Re: Onto my third loom in six months!! am I missing something?

Well, it's taken a while - but am pleased to report that my car is now back on the road and, so far, all appears well. I repaired the damanged section of the loom myself and it only cost £20 in bits so happy with that. Next few days will be spent with the hood down and putting in some test miles to ...

Re: 2014 Barnsley Branch Rally - Elsecar Heritage Museum

Excellent rally - well done Barnsley branch MMOC - weather was very kind, great to see/meet lots of people and the many side attractions were well worth a look too. :-)

Fascinating :-)

Not a hi-viz, hard hat, no safety goggles or even PVC gloves in sight! Three videos - one from 1961 of a tour round the Jaguar factory (gotta love the guy in the big hat :-) ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKJPFRNO344 Another called 'The Classic Morris Minor Car Story' and looks like a BBC original...

Re: For the Love of Cars

Really enjoyed the Ford Escort programme - not seen the others yet but the format and homage to the back story and history is excellent. At least the fact that there are an increasing range of programmes now that cover restoration and use of classics is encouraging. Nice to see real owners involved ...

PLEASE PLEASE Be Careful!!!

Not happy reading! As far as I know this is not a member of the club or forum but there has been at least one forum member who also had this happen. Please take EXTRA care when working under your cars.[frame]Image[/frame]

Re: sloppy gear change

Here's the difference between the two gear levers. I didn't realise there was any until I could not engage reverse in my 1275 box. The upper lever is the one to use for the 1098/1275 box, the lower for the 948 :-) As has been said above, check for the presence of the 'O' ring and plastic cup which t...

Re: Lincs Branch - Drive It Day - Belton House, Grantham

Hi, Very nice, looks like you had the weather as well! :D What is that pre-war car by the way? Best wishes, Mike. 1924 3.5l Bentley. We were not expecting it but he showed up having come across from Radcliffe on Trent. Sounded fantastic and great to see such a car in unrestored but driveable condit...

Lincs Branch - Drive It Day - Belton House, Grantham

Thought you might like to see a few pics from our Drive It Day venue - Belton House near Grantham. Weather excellent and lots of interest in the cars. Whatever you did today as part of Drive It day, I hope y'all had fun :-)[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1398633809_15393 [/frame][frame] h...

Re: engine numbers

Probably a 'gold seal' unit (is there any evidence of gold or silver paint anywhere?) this means that, at some stage, the engine has been reconditioned by BMC.

Re: Driver door window won't wind up how do I fix it?

The winder mechanism or arm is probably bent/damaged now so will need replacing. It is a bit of a faff but can be done in a couple of hours or so with some care. Remove the door/window handles and gaskets nd also the door pull then use a flat blade screwdriver to prize the trim away from the door. O...

Re: Series II Engine Size?

The 948 unit is undoubtedly more powerful and more user friendly than the original 803 which, by any standards, is pretty weak. Some say the 948 unit is the 'sweetest' engine used by the Minor. Using the S2 air filter assembly and separating the dynamo and coil as per S2 spec etc. on the 948 will ma...

Re: crossmember replacement

Yeah that's an unusual but helpful by product of the A series engine and gearbox tendancy to leak oil. It does have a semi-protective element to it :-) sounds like the centre sections will probably be fine. Post pics if/when you can :-)

Re: crossmember replacement

You don't say whether you have a Saloon, Traveller or Convertible but whichever you have, replacing the whole crossmember is a BIG job. If you have a convertible it's a VERY BIG job as there is no roof to help hold the vehicle in shape whilst the cross member is out. Ideally you would need to roll t...

Re: Series II Engine Size?

G'day :-) 803 is the correct engine. Just be careful too as the 803 gearbox is different to the 948 box although they can be mated together. If you have the original gearlever (the magic wand - long style) then you probably have an 803 box or a 948 box with the remote gearlever extension swapped for...
