75th Anniversary competition
Why is the design being chosen by MMOC committee. Should be voted on by the membership. Or is it not a democracy?

Re: Traveller woodwork in Minor Matters
The man who did the Technical Tips pages (Rob Thomasson?) stepped down from the role a few years ago. Since then the feature has been sporadic and not as good.

Wouldn't you be better off keeping the Traveller due to its loadability.

Don’t know why someone would do that. Exhaust route doesn’t look too good either.

Also the screen washer jet. Removing the glove box will give that away if there is any sign of water damage to the card.

Yes, be sure the P clips are either rubber covered or bell-mouthed metal. You will find the wiring to the near side lights tucks neatly in the recess immediately behind the lower panel.

Re: Sudden splutter over 50mph
Distributor needs checking thoroughly first. Is it even the correct one for the car. Then ensure baseplate is secure, everything clean, internal wiring including little earth lead is there and secure, points in good order and correctly gapped, carbon brush in cap present and sprung, spark plugs are ...

Re: maddening and persistent dashboard rattle
You can just carefully push the headlining up, but as this area is not noted for corrosion you’d be better off doing it behind the glove boxes to the windscreen corners on the body, where rust can take a hold. I am surprised you haven’t seen the tie wires behind there, unless someone has removed them.

Worth mentioning that the ‘earth’ terminal should be open braid to clearly identify it as such. Your battery cables have been replaced. Originally would have been Lucas ‘helmet’ type.

Re: Wildlife
Good topic, can’t stress the importance of access to fresh clean water enough, the birds like to drink and bathe during the day and hedgehogs drink it at night, which sadly get killed by unobservant and uncaring drivers. Important time of year for them all rearing young. Same with insects.

Re: Wing Mirrors
Threads under the wing want wire brushing to remove all the muck. Then soak in Plus Gas and carefully work the nut back and forth. The quality mirrors had non-ferrous parts and usually the thread was covered by a plastic tube to protect it.

The only other thing I can think of is of exhaust resonance if the exhaust is fouling the structure as it leaves the engine bay.

Clean the engine thoroughly to help pinpoint the source. Tappet covers are indeed prime suspects. Don't like the look of that sealant on the rocker cover gasket.
