Re: Matt O's 64 Blue Morris 1000 Saloon Bennie!
Well it's been a while since I last posted as I stripped the Morris to a shell to assess everything. I have been collecting panels and researching how to repair this fine car. I started off with a couple of small repair patchs on the drivers inner wing wheel arch ( inside the car ). I ground the rot...

That 'car' I'd been taking apart and had to roll onto the trailer now actually runs. Next job is to it give a small test drive a...

Re: Non Starter help please!
Are you familiar with points? That is, are you getting on a bit? If it is the first time you have changed points it is easy to get the wires and washers in the wrong order. EDIT Sorry, just re-read that you have only cleaned & checked the points. I think you need to get that screw renewed and a...

Re: Non Starter help please!
Ignition on: measure the voltage at the coil terminal that connects to the distributor (or at the distributor if accessible) With the points open, it should read battery voltage, about 12v. With the points closed, it should drop to zero, because closing the points connects it to earth. You should b...

Non Starter help please!
Hi there, recently brought a 1964 Morris 1000 saloon that hadnt turned a wheel since 1996. I'm 'told' it ran perfectly untill being parked up, anyway I have got it now and in the slow process of rebuilding it. I've stripped it somewhat and am now in the process of trying to get it running. I wanted ...

http://i590.photobucket.com/albums/ss348/MattO-SRi_2009/morris4.jpg That pic shows the cable going to the starter button as being red. Which strongly suggests, along with the evidence of a stereo, that it has been converted to neg earth already. I can't think of any other way of telling. Brilliant,...

One quick question, on the drivers side front suspension, the bump stop lines up perfectly with the top of the suspension, although the pass side doesnt. What could cause ...

Re: Matt O's 64 Blue Morris 1000 Saloon!
Hi Matt, welcome to the message board! The first picture looks like a good straight car. My advice would be not to strip off too much at once, go a wheelarch or side at a time so as not to daunt yourself with how much rust you will find. There plenty of people who have restored cars on here who can...
