Re: Spotted today.

A beautiful very dark blue 4 door saloon was parked behind us at Bents Garden Centre near Leigh yesterday. It had an MMOC badge on the grille, so hopefully they're on here. Sadly we weren't in Gertie, they could have kept one another company :). If you are, your car looked in wonderful condition. We...

Re: Flasher Unit

They do have the "traditional" ones too, http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=17106&SortOrder=55 They do indeed! Good stuff :). I was clearly more drawn to the picture than with its two options, than the actual switches and controls menu. Looks like they've...

Re: Flasher Unit

Try Moss in Stockport, http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/aboutmoss/contactus.aspx They will have the correct one. Thank you :). They appear to have electronic ones on their site which should get her through MOT. I'll miss the clunk-ping noise, it was a good reminder to turn the indicator back off! David.

Flasher Unit

Hi all, It's been a long time since I was on here, as Gertie has been off the road due to one thing or another and moving half-way across the country. She also had an electrical issue which I have only just found time to fix. She's all good for her MOT, except that the indicator flasher unit has gone...

Re: Eu proposals to outlaw modified cars

May i urge people to calm down over this, yes europe has gone about it the wrong way but do they ever do it the correct way anyway. I've spoken with a contact i have within VoSA and an MoT Inspector, they both said almost the same thing, that like for like modifications i e discs, tyres (x ply for ...

Re: Please read this it's very important !!!

Apologies for a mega-post... As ever, this is my opinion and interpretation... Don't shoot me :). Point 9 page 10. The phrases "sovereign activity" and " member states" say it all. This is a rehash of existing European MOT or equivalent tests to bring in to line member states who...

Re: AA book of the car

Which reminds me of my mother holding me by the collar with her left hand, while swinging at the backs of my legs with her right shouting "stand still you little b"££*r while I hit you" This made me smile. A friend used to regale us with stories about how he thought his Mum took him ...

Re: Hi

I've got a front bumper iron here, it's yours if you want it. It's in Bexley though but if you know someone near or get down this way------ Cheers for the offer, Les. Greatly appreciated. We're still trying to decide which way we want to go with her. We've grown quite fond of her unique look. A fro...

Re: Considering viewing this car...any thoughts?

Nothing wrong with opinion but these can be expressed without making personal comments about other forum members. You say in your initial post on the forum that you are a newbie to Minors so are you really in a position to comment on whether the car is overpriced or not and if the seller is being g...

Re: Considering viewing this car...any thoughts?

[quote="LouiseM"] There's nothing wrong with fair & balanced comments but to suggest that a member who clearly has no idea what their car is worth is being "greedy" for advertising it at £4k - based on the advice offered here that it was worth more than £3k but less than £5k ...

Re: Considering viewing this car...any thoughts?

Some owners just don't have any idea how much their car is worth, others have 'rose coloured specs' and genuinely think it is in a lot better condition and worth more than it is. To be fair to the seller of this car, she did say in her posts here that she had no idea how much it was worth and didn'...

A final thank you to all for the information and warm welcome - I know where I stand with her a bit better now. Next stop - haynes manual. I'm off to wash and polish her now for our trip to Purbeck tomorrow. With any luck, it will even up the paintwork a bit (not holding out a lot of hope. A respray...

Re: Considering viewing this car...any thoughts?

Hi, Hopefully if enough people visit these overpriced restoration projects and walk away, they might get the message eventually that they're just being unrealistic and greedy!! Best wishes, Mike. Couldn't agree more, Mike. Unfortunately, there always seems to be someone who will buy them thinking t...

Re: Is people’s ability to join a motorway safely getting worse

If all Drivers were good drivers it would be boring . Its great watching bad drivers. It is always great to watch until this happens:[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1344552227_17384 [/frame] We were travelling in the opposite direction than the car is facing now, the road is a 60. Re: Hi

Definately non standard wiper motor, maybe 2 speed. Are you sure that the wiper did not stop because you turned the ignition off? You should always squirt the washers before testing the wipers Wipers are indeed two speed. I wasn't testing them - i have been driving a japanese car with the indicator...

Re: Considering viewing this car...any thoughts?

Based on the above - it looks expensive for what it is. Not to be bashing - but here in Oxfordshire, many things are expensive for what they are. I have heard them referred to as "Oxfordshire prices". Having bought a few (modern) cars since living here, when searching I've always ended up...

Re: Hi

Once again, thank you all! The information about the exhaust manifold and air filter are reassuring. When you put your foot down a bit, she can be quite noisy. It almost sounds like something blowing a bit, but it may well be the setup? I suspect she may need a thicker oil, as I've noticed the oil p...

Re: Hi

Welcome to the forum. Gertrude certainly looks different! Think the rims may be van rims, what does the team think? Thanks! She certainly has personality ;). I think you could be right about the rims. She came with the original Moggie hubcaps, wrapped up nicely in the boot. The previous owner told ...
