Drill out the ones you can see I'm sure it will be apparent if the are many more. If there a a few left you will find a good spot weld will rip a slug out the parent material rather than the weld fail. A spot weld in dissimilar thicknesses of steel should be easy to spot as the thinner material tend...

looks like I may have to embark on a similar rebuild. major problem is I only have a space 7ft high so a spit wont work.
how much did all the repair panels cost in the end or would you rather not add it all up?

a rubber block does seem a little crude but effective I guess.

If all else fails you could hammer a big screwdriver into the lock and turn it like a key. I went to see a car once and the owner was showing me round andhe said he left the key at a petrol station miles away from home! He just used a screwdriver worked like a charm! least you could by a replacement...

Does the engine bolt directly to the chassis or to the cab structure?

I stripped the dynamo for my traveller yesterday as it was a bit tight to rotate. one disassembly I have found that the armature is dragging on the feild windings. the dynamo was belived to be working before disassembly. just been working on the starter and dynamo this evening. found the starter is like new hardly any wear on the comuntator.
had the dynamo apart as well. wasnt very free to rotate before disassembly. found the armature was a tight fit in the field coils.
any thoughts?

I have clean the distributor out this week. Checked everything was free and working. I replaced the points and condenser as a matter of course. Was the vac advance originally painted? I ended up painting the vac advance gold, thought it looked quited good.

When using jump leads it is worth checking polarity just incase bumpers or doors of the two cars touch and weld themselves together!

just to make sure pistons and valves dont meet and oil dosent leak anywhere. then I will paint the engine. not using for a performance test.

tried the rule with a light behind. didnt show anything. I think there must be a raised thred in one of the holes like you have suggested. ill gauge how much of a difference there is.
any thoughts on engine test stands as the car is not ready for the engine!

I didnt have the pump fitted with the head. I will investigate further. I will have a look at countersinking the holes to take any burrs off over the weekend. hopefully the head isnt warpped!
