hi, When I said original cable I meant the damaged cable that was on the car, yes the hole for the stud is in the tunnel as described just in front of the rear passenger seat and the cable fixing for the brake lever on the axel is original both sides .Cannot get under to photo to -day but will post ...

hi, sorry for gap in replying been ill, the handbrake cable taken off was same length as the new ones ,the stud on the old one had been pulled off to reach the hole in the body.so whoever fitted it had the same problem that I have the outer cable is not long enough. Hi , believe I have the problem at last ,oil from carb dashpot is disappearing down inlet manifold filled it one day gone the next. Removed carb and inlet manifold contained large amount of said oil. Would explain why plugs always seemed wet and oily! The carb is HIF 44 1.5 Inch SU on believed Metro...

Hi, have tried that still no go ,have checked carb and replaced needle and reset float in case of flooding. Have spark at points and at plugs, have tried re-timing from no 4 as suggested got one cough blue smoke came out of carb then nothing ,plugs all wet with fuel, cleaned them up and followed you...

Hi, want to replace old 1964 key switch two pin with new style plus new solenoid switch , car is fitted with alternator so negative earth .Do I have to fit another wire to do so ,think white with red tracer ,been told it should be resistor wire is that correct?

can I ask why top hat seals on inlet valves only ? there are seals on both valves on this 1275 head .

Hi, many thanks looks like oil leaking past valves onto pistons ,would that mean guides and rubber seals to cure ? gratefull for your help.
