Local Branch Rally

Having owned a Minor back in the 90's, but no longer owning one, I'd like to pop along to the Birmingham branch rally with the 2CV on Sunday. Is there any problem with not being a club member? I remember other classic marques turning up when I was in the club. Just wondering what the cost is too. Th...

Landcrab for sale

Can remember somebody on here was looking for a Landcrab for sale, sometime around the New Year. One has just come up, with another one ready for sale in around two weeks time....... http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C605727

Re: Need New Exhaust

One of the biggest character defining idiosyncrasies of a Morris Minor (especially the 1000 models) is the exhaust note. The 'parp' must be preserved!

Wales were storming in Rome. Just wish they'd been like that from day one.

Re: places to visit

You can pass by the outside of the house that William Morris was born in, in St.Johns, Worcester. It's a private house though, so no going inside.

Re: Morris minors in films and TV shows.

Been a programme on BBC 4 this evening where some bloke drove along the A303 in a Morris Minor. Was a programme about the hidden history along that road, if I'm not mistaken. Only caught the end of it as I came in from work.

Classic Vehicles: exemptions from periodic testing-UPDATE

Done a quick search and haven't found any reference to the updated EU Directive from last year, so thought I'd paste the link to the DfT site below. Seems there's a possibility that all Morris Minor could soon be MOT exempted. http://www.dft.gov.uk/classic-mot/cars-and-vans/ The EU Directive 2009/40...

Not yet. I'm staying down south for a while for family reasons. I should be heading back in a couple of months. I'm enjoying the tropical conditions of Worcestershire.

Re: Holidaying in France

As an ex 2CV owner (and I loved it - but not in winter) - did you drive all the way from Shetlands to France (apart from obvious ferry crossings...) ? Not quite all the way from Shetland. It's wintering in my sister's garage in the English Midlands. The climate in Shetland is far too harsh at this ...

Re: Holidaying in France

Forgot to say that even in the UK prices for 2CVs have taken off. Not uncommon to see them sell for £6k-£10k now, and as much as €15k in France and Germany.

Re: Holidaying in France

Ah yes, the little cars used by banned drivers. Lots of them!! Lol. All four wheeled now though. I woke to a light covering of snow this morning, but there was a fair covering by the time I got to Bapaume. I'm now in Péronne for lunch. Passed a blue 2CV on the road here and gave each other a wave. :-)

Holidaying in France

As the title suggests, I'm currently on holiday in France. I decided to take the 2CV and hoped to see a few along the way, but alas, I have only seen one Dyane and two 2CVs so far since arriving on Saturday. Must be due to the weather. Last full day today, returning to Dear Old Blighty at 4:25pm tom...

Re: overservoing

My previous modern car, a Škoda Fabia, had no feel through the pedal. Tickle it with my foot and the car was scrubbing speed off very quickly indeed. The current modern car, a Citroën C4, has fantastic brakes. It was the first difference I noticed over the Škoda.
