Re: Trafficators in use
I have fitted these flashing festoon bulbs to the trafficators on my 1952 MM. They were EA2B bulbs. I did however have to cut about 1.5 turns (possibly 2turns) from the coiled up wire that contacts them. Best to start by removing one turn and if not sufficient increase by half turn cuts.

Re: Getting grease into new top trunnions
It is important to unload the trunnion threads to allow grease to flow around the threads. See a copy of my post re this matter. Re: Trunnion welch plug failure
I have experienced the same problem with lower trunnions purchased from B.M. They were a loose push in fit and not swaged over as the original MM bronze trunnions were. I cured this by silver brazing the plug into position using 'Johnson Mattey' easy flo no. 2 with appropriate flux. A perfect soluti...

Rob In your post of Fri. July 14 at 9:18 AM the article describes the sampling by Wilson McCombe of a Derrington conversion of the popular Post War Morris 8. In your post of Thurs. What's the guy on the left of the pic (right side of the car) doing with what appears to be a socket spanner extension pointing down to what would be the dynamo location?

I find these posts pretty enlightening and a worthwhile variant to the usual run of the mill thread.

Re: front wheel bearings
For what it's worth I am using tapered roller bearings on my MM with 1000 swivel pins. Bearing no's 30205 and 30303. Because of the increased width of these bearings I am using a SKF 13662 seal - 1.375" X 2.129" (for a bore of 2.125") X 0.25 wide. They do not protrude beyond the hub. ...

Been 6 days since last post - was wondering whether you had run out of porn. How did you get on sourcing zinc for anodes.

Re: Clutch Pedal
Whatever the problem, it is likely that the pedal not returning properly will probably result in the carbon thrust release bearing being in constant contact with it's mating surface. This is sure to cause premature wear of the carbon thrust bearing.

Re: Alta and MM porn?
Rob If you are going to fit anodic protection I can see the ideal place. In the first post in this thread the upper head shows a brass like plug next to the No. 1 head stud location. I would make a stainless plug tapped to accept a zinc anode which can easily be replaced when it becomes knackered. I...

Re: Keeping the rad full
Rob Have you considered fitting a sacrificial anode to protect your Alta head. Easily done and although magnesium is the lowest, Zinc would do the job admirably. Zinc is 3 on the Galvanic table as against aluminium starting at 6. See link. Bob http://www.eaa1000.av.org/technicl/corrosion/galvanic.htm

Re: Keeping the rad full
When I fitted my recovery system I took notice of all the web sites which stated that recovery cannot occur unless a proper recovery cap is used. I did not question it. My O/F tank is mounted at a height about halfway up the core. The normal O/F pipe is connected to the O/F tank at the bottom. I bel...

Re: Keeping the rad full
On my MM I have a coolant recovery system fitted. The overflow tank is fed from what is normally the overflow pipe. When the motror heats up the coolant expands and the excess flows into the overflow tank. When the motor cools down the fluid in the O/F tank is drawn into the radiator via the special...
