Re: Some ideas and help please...

All good info so far, thanks guys. So if we're lookking at the alternator then my question is are the ones supplied in the conversion kits from the main suppliers beefy enough to run all the standard gear, plus radios, spots etc, or is it worth/possible to buy a much meatier alternative? There's no ...

Re: Some ideas and help please...

Pab_moggy, Anything which reduces voltage drop across the wiring harness is a step in the right direction. Wasted watts within the standard wiring harness means less illumination from your headlamps. I would say go for it. An added complication but if the lighting system illuminates more like a mod...

Re: Some ideas and help please...

Ok, other than not putting the lights on a relay, any other guidance? The windtones will be going in, they came free from a friends donor Daimler Conquest. I've gone through a couple of horns and have found them all so far to be too quiet or pathetic. Advice on relays and wiring them in etc greatly ...

Some ideas and help please...

Hi, I've posted here briefly before with some questions regarding fog lamps etc. However, in the mean time I have ended up doing a full front end rebuild and now need some advice as I'm at the rebuild stage. Basically, the first question is in regards to horns and lights. I'm fitting a set of windto...

Hazard help...

Hi guys, I've just bought a hazard light kit from Bull Motif. There was no picture provided when I bought it but now it's arrived I would describe it as a copy of the old Lucas type kits I've seen, I'm sure most of you will be familiar with it anyway. Well the reason for this post is because I'm not...

Re: Fog/Spot wiring...

Hi guys, apologies for delay I've been away for a while. Thanks for the advice & ideas. I think I'll just be going for fogs now, rather than fogs and spots. Won't be going down the alternator route just yet, they'll rarely be used so hopefully shouldn't cause too much strain. Switching wise I th...

Fog/Spot wiring...

Evening moggyites, as the title suggests I'm looking to install fog & spot lights. I have many questions but I'll try to keep the initial post short & precise. I know some consider adorning the front of your car with an array of lamps is silly but this is something I'm doing out of necessity...

A grey F reg saloon in Haverfordwest - FJM 525F from memory - driven by Lyn Salter, with his wife Jen and son David on board. He stopped in Morrison's car park, so I couldn't resist following him into the car park, and stopping for a chat! He's a Club member, but he didn't say which branch! Actuall...

Re: reversing light

It would be nice if it would fit but I don't think there is anywhere to fit it on a Minor gearbox. This might give you another idea. I'm currently in a test phase of this modification.[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1323661104_4219 [/frame][frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=13236...

Re: Help, I can't get to the bottom of my running issues...

We've made some progress on this, although not solved it yet. We had another go setting her up, which included rebuilding the carb. Good call as it had been badly bodged. Anyway, got her running like a brand new car, test drove perfectly... However, when checking the timing mark with a strobe she wa...

Re: Help, I can't get to the bottom of my running issues...

what are the tell tail signs of a slipping clutch? In short, when accelerating the engine revs rise but the road speed does not increase in proportion with the revs. Something similar happens when going up a hill -- the road speed does not change in proportion to the engine revs. Don To comment fur...

Re: Help, I can't get to the bottom of my running issues...

Also worth mentioning, I did manage on Sunday to get her managing a steady pace around 30ish uphill, though the weather was a lot more moderate than it has been since so the performance hasn't been repeated, she's sluggish again in the damp & cold. Sunday was by no means perfect, but it was the ...

Re: Help, I can't get to the bottom of my running issues...

Compression checked, 145 on all cylinders except 2 which showed 125 dry and 135 wet. Valves all checked and set, dashpot level fine, piston fine, air filter whilst not new does seem fine, I may try a short run without it to see if there's any improvement. I was hoping to stay away from electronic ig...

Help, I can't get to the bottom of my running issues...

Morning guys, I have been a long time reader of the forums, but this is my first post. I have been trying to read through the forums to find a solution to my problems but nothing seems to be working & I'm at the end of my tether. As per the title I'm having running issues which I've been chasing...
