Re: anyone used bars leaks?

I used it as a get-you-home fix when my radiator got holed once. It got me home, then to and from work the next day after which it leaked again - quite spectacularly as I recall.

Re: is dot4 synthetic compatible?

Doesn't it say on the bottle? I know DOT5 silicone fluid says it's compatible with dot4 fluid.

Unless it's special stuff for Rolls-Royce or Citroen then I would have thought it's OK.

Re: Using a Minor Everyday??

I've been using my Traveller every day since I got it over 15 years ago, 40 mile round trip for work and occasionally longer trips at weekends - it doesn't even live in a garage. It does need more maintenance than a modern car but it's quite manageable and fitting electronic ignition helps there. I ...

Re: resistance for main ht leads and king lead for mm 1000?

I'm sure Vizard mentions it somewhere but I don't think it's too critical, I'd say somewhere between 5k and 50k total from coil to spark gap.

I remember hearing that gas was diluted with varying amounts nitrogen to keep the mass of gas roughly constant with temperature.

Re: Clutch Pedal not returning

What's the condition of the clevis pins and steel strips that connect to the relay shaft? There can be quite a bit of slack in them as they wear badly due to road grit getting in them and the return spring is on the clutch side so won't take out the slack. I just replaced mine at the weekend and the...

How about "Switch your foglights off, it's not foggy"

I could see that getting used daily.

Re: Traveller Rear Springs

According to theory fitting softer rear springs would put more cornering load on the front tyres and hence increase understeer. My traveller with slightly tired 7-leaf rear springs understeers a bit more than I'd like anyway so it depends what change you're looking for.

Re: interior frosting

Do a search for "Dampire", it's what some divers use to dry out the inside of drysuits, reusable as you bung it in the oven or microwave to get the moisture back out of it. I'm told that Halfords sell something similar but cheaper for camping gear but can't find it on their website. It's p...

Can I just thank Louise for adding some rationality and balance. Call me complacent too but although I'll be keeping an eye on this I'm not worried that I'm going to be prevented from driving my Minor every day just yet.

Re: Bi pass pipe

I think I'll try to get hold of a 92 degree thermostat instead for the winter (it's an 88 now). It's easier to change that than mess about with the bypass hose to get a better heater. Anyone know where to get one? I just looked at BM and ESM and no joy.

Re: Bi pass pipe

Well, I've got a Mini heater and it's still not up to the job :( (yes, I flushed everything really well when I fitted it). So a question about this bypass hose, surely it's there to stop the water pump working into a dead load when the heater valve is closed and the thermostat's not open. If I were ...

Is that the plain steel wheels? I've got 145's on my Sprite and wouldn't go any wider on those rims but my brother used to run 165/70's on his Midget with Rostyle wheels.

Does anyone else find the canister too close to the chassis to get the chain past without banging/levering a dent in the canister? I'm using a Halfords brand filter intended for a Metro, maybe it's too tall?

You don't need a remote fluid reservoir as long as you check the level from time to time.

I've done just over 150,000 in my Minor since I got it, way more than in any other car I've owned.
