Has anyone bought these from ESM, I want a set but interested to know if they are as sturdy as the original ones. Thanks.

Re: Breather systems
Two things, first, is there a preferred position for the canister, ie timing chain cover or, as mine is, side cover ? Secondly, what are the consequences of using the PCV valve set up, together with the carb connection ?

A thoughtful offer however.
Re: Wheels
I expect the fitter was handy with the air gun, to snap the bolt. Despite most having a torque wrench available.

Re: O ring valve stem seal fitment
After the valve is in the guide, the O ring type of seal is then fitted over the protruding valve stem. The type that fits over the top of the valve guide are apparently better, however I believe they require a guide that has a recess to secure the seal.

Re: 1098 oil pressure light pressure.
Well of course I see the advantage of gauges but despite that I like the simplicity of just a couple of lamps, it’s a Morris Minor after all. For me it’s relaxed motoring, not worrying if I’m running a couple of pounds under pressure. The vehicle I recently sold had me playing that game, although it...

I’ve done 1200 miles since a gearbox oil change, that was 5 years ago. Should I change it again ?

Re: Diff oil
It’s beginning to look like metal containers with their lid arrangement don’t lend themselves to the addition of a plastic disc, after the tin is formed.
The plastic containers with a screw on lid, do not restrict the fitting of said disc. So maybe that is the determining factor.

I have two gearboxes that I rebuilt a few years ago but have forgotten some details. I remember one has the number something 299 ? on the shaft from the bell housing, MG gearbox? The other I feel is a standard 1098 gearbox. How do the ratios of the possible MG box suit the Minor and would it suit th...

Re: Diff oil
Well I replaced the oil today, 1 litre, maybe a spoonful less, it’s difficult to completely empty the container in the position required. It didn’t run from the hole but I’m going to accept it’s enough. Another interesting or should I say disappointing thing about a tin of grease I recently bought, ...

Re: Diff oil
Thanks Bill, I guess it was a rather ridiculous question. I want to top up the oil in the diff but for some reason I can’t remember the oil I used, I wrote the date and mileage of filling but omitted the type, it must have been GL4 but once you start to wonder about these things, that’s it. The simp...

Re: Breather systems
Stephen, you might need to wipe the oil away and from then on keep an eye on where it appears again, after gentle motoring. As I suspect it has blown all over the place when on the move at higher speeds. Weather looks to be getting better, good luck.

Re: Breather systems
Well I’ve got a slight oil leak and before I do anything drastic, I wanted the best breather system possible, to eliminate that.
