Set up the ignition timing so it 'just' pinks on hard acceleration in top gear - then wind it back very slightly. How does the carb react when you lift the piston with the jiggle pin ? Indeed - you can adjust up the little springs and fit additional shim washers. I'm not totally convinced it makes much difference. The thicker oil makes a big difference - and I use them WITH a very large pair of telescopic dampers attached to the lower arms and to the inner wings. Have had no probl...

Adding additional dampers to the front suspension is easy - and makes a huge difference to the car. It also has the advantage of securing the lower arm in such a way that it will no longer be able to come adrift from the trunnion. Converting a 1275 Mini engine to fit a Minor
Anyone done this conversion ? Obviously the crank needs changing - and the front plate to take engine mounts, but what to do about sealing the rear main bearing ? Is it possible to do this conversion ?

Errr - 60 ft lbs is FAR too tight - you WILL distort the head doing this ! And as you see - snapped stud - the other will all be stretched now and should be replaced.
