Re: Whats the Split screen Carb type of my car?!???
Cheers Guys.
Looks like it was leaking from around the float chamber.
Will re-build it with seal kit. Its a H1 with 601 coding on the side.
Real mismatch with this car, 948cc with an earlier carb!

Chatting with him earlier and he dosent like you....... No, sorry, I was speaking with him a few months back and he was talking about going in for major back surgery around about now IIRC. So I would think he's either laying low or on the block. Maybe totally wrong but he's a sound chap and wouldnt ...

Re: Xflow 1100/1300
No problem. It was a good little conversion, but with so many conversions the exhaust was the achilies heel, kept blowing!! The truck was a tad on the heavy side being made up of a ladder chassis on the back (On top of the two door floor pan which the ute was based around!) so maybe not the best pla...

Re: Xflow 1100/1300
Ran a 1600 xflow in my old pick up. Went really well despite being Ford rubbish! ha Heres a few shots. Standard block with a few tweaks, standard four speed box with modified mounts and I think the only gearbox mod was cutting to avoid steering rack. Had to make up some manifold extension plates to ...

Travellers stock and staying that way, splittys the same.
Two modified Saloons enough for me!!
Might be hauling the Traveller out of storage to crack on with it soon. Been off the road 5 years, needs floor pans, chassis leg, wing, door, re-varnish and some paint. Should keep me busy till the autum!

Just installed a new loom. Had it checked out and all okay. However. Working on the car the other evening put the lights on to check brake lights were working and the red lines were extremely warm to the point where some smoke had come off them. Re: Factory underside finish from back in the day.
Wow, if it is a standard finish on the underside I have a splitscreen which has not been welded other than two points on the sills. Undersides absolutely immaculate, even the chassis legs are totally straight and untouched. :o Will get some more shots up. Cant beleive its standard - looks too good t...

Having a poke round my splitty and have peeled away large areas of bitumen undercoating as its loose in places and going to start causing more issues in the near future! Does anyone know what the standard was for minors leaving Cowely? Heres what mine looks like. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...

No boat anchors, sorry, side valves in sight!TvdWerf wrote:I read a little bit between the text, so you have 2 lowlights, with "special" eningines.
So my question, do you still have the original sidevalve engines?
You may send me a pm
Haven't ever run a side valve minor.

Bitumen undersealing
Had to carry out some DIY round the house last weekend applying anti damp - waterproofing round the base bricks/concrete of my house. The paint I used from Wickes was a Bitumen based dry touch matt finish concrete and metal paint. Smelt great applying but dried smoothe and dry. Ive still over 3litre...

Re: 1956 Minor stock running gear.
Having driven all things minor Post '57 I have come to the complusion that I prefer the 948cc as fitted to my traveller over all things 1098cc. May I ask why? I ask as I have just bought 950 engine for resto. I found it a revvier little engine, more responsive and quite nippy. 1098 I found was a li...

Re: 1956 Minor stock running gear.
Cheers guys.
Whats the magic stick wand like behind a 948cc then?
Im instantly thinking it wont be quite right, ratiowise, speed wise and living with for a daily commute 20 miles will I be regretting sticking with it??
Loved the travellers setup with stock 948 gear, hoping for the same.
