Re: A very slow build of a custom traveller
So after a very long time of not posting anything about my traveller I thought an update was in order, the lack of posts has mainly been due to the amount of work we’ve had on. Hence lack of time to progress with the traveller. But also because of a slight change of plan, oh no I hear you all cry, a...

Re: Tie down points on Morris Traveller
Straps should always be around the wheels not body/chassis. if you strap the body/chassis the straps will become loose and tight as the vehicle bounces up and down on the journey, Note, you need one strap per wheel, if you only run 2 or 3 straps you can get in trouble for an insecure load, unless yo...
Re: Fuel line
From memory the fuel line is 1/4" on all standard Minors, The steel line should be available from all the usual Minor suppliers and should be supplied with the correct ends to fit the tank and pump. The soft line from the pump to the carb is 1/4" bore and originally braided, so get braided...

Re: Questionnaire
It does appear to be a real questionnaire (pasted below) but the questions and wording seem odd to me, And with the government looking at the "vehicle tinkering bill" again now I will not be answering it. Sorry to the OP if its all genuine but not for me, Steve consent to my data being use...

Re: 1098 water pump
If the pump was shorter and being driven from the crank as per original then wouldn't the fan belt be out of line? You could get a short pump made, I've made a few over the years for custom applications, or you could look at an electric pump like "Davis craig" they are probably the best kn...

Re: satnav through cigarette lighter problems
A test lamp only needs voltage and most aren’t polarity conscious same with most ciggy lighters so they should work no matter which way you have wired the socket, It might be worth checking that you have the 12v positive coming through the centre pin and the earth is coming from the sides of the soc...

Looks like a front Armstrong lever arm damper, is it leaking? Is that why you want to service it?

Re: Negative earth v positive earth
One way to wire up items such as an aux socket (cigarette lighter socket), a USB charging socket, dash cam or radio is - run a feed from the + pos terminal of the battery to a stand-alone insulated fuse block, I would have a suitable size fuse as close to the positive terminal of the battery as poss...

Re: Bleeding newly fitted disc brakes
Hi Try clamping off the rear flexible brake line with a line clamp or carefully with some mole grips, this is provided you do not have stainless braided lines (these must never be clamped) With the rear line clamped off so no fluid can pass in either direction try the pedal and see if it is now OK, ...

Re: Rear pop out windows for a Morris Minor 2 door??
Morning all, The side window recess isn't deep enough to mount the glass on the outside without it sticking out from the bodywork, So the glass would have to be smaller and sit inside the spot welded flange (where the window rubber attaches) and this wouldn't look great, Answer is to remove the spot...

The best leather products I have ever used are made by Gliptone,
Can’t comment on their other products but their leather products are superb, I have tried lots of different brands over the years but always come back to it.

Re: whats going on here then
It looks like you have compression escaping up the spark plugs between the ceramic and the steel body, I see your running Denso plugs, a first rate plug in respect of quality and performance, so surprised to see the leakage, but I think I would be looking to replace them, You could contact ADL who I...

Re: Exhaust wrap
Exhaust wrap is available from dozens of suppliers including good old ebay and amazon, but do remember cheap exhaust wrap is cheap for a reason, Cheap wrap has very limited thermal properties and disintegrates in the first couple of years, so be careful where you spend your money, as for how to fix ...

Re: A very slow build of a custom traveller
Painfully slow progress I’m afraid, work keeps getting in the way, although lockdown was bad for so many businesses we were very lucky and had an influx of work so my poor old traveller hasn’t got much of a look-in for a long time, but haven’t given up, and I have made some progress but nothing exci...
