Re: head gasket query
pretty much OK I think Phil, no obvious breaches. I did notice head released easier towards the front than back.

head gasket query
Had a nice day at Kelmarsh today but because I found oil in the coolant I came in the Stag instead. When I got home I removed the cylinder head. Strange though, at first glance I can't see an obvious fail in the old gasket (i'll have a thorough check tomorrow) . Any ideas why not? I'm planning an un...

Re: Security devices
I came across this thread and was hoping for some advice. I have just bought a cobra immobiliser and would appreciate anyone who has one fitted to pm me with exact instructions on how to wire it up? The manufacturer’s instructions are not very clear. Thanks for any help

Is my clutch on its way out?
Hi guys, looking for some clutch advice please. I seem to have a slight noise from my clutch at idle.....a very light/quiet but definite, continuous, metallic sound or vibration. The sound goes away when I depress the clutch. The clutch pedal is all adjusted perfectly. What would this noise be pleas...

That is a fabulous and rare find, well done! All the very best with it. And I love that external sun visor - never seen one like that before.

How noisy?
I had a fabulous run to the National Rally today. Great atmosphere and some superb cars and I came back thinking I need to improve my paint finish. But, more of a priority is to understand and sort the excessive whine/rasp when decelerating from 3rd and 2nd gears. Trouble is I’m not quite sure what ...

Re: Door alignment
Well I did a lot of fiddling last weekend and the door sits pretty well now, except for when the new door seal is also fitted. I have the green fabric type and the rubber does seem a bit hard - and the door doesn’t shut well near the bottom. I think there is a black rubber alternative which although...

Door alignment
I’m struggling with this a little. When my door hinge bolts are done up tight the door sits slightly too high in the door aperture so that the top of the window frame rubs the underside of the roof. If I loosen the bolts the door drops slightly and fits absolutely perfectly. Just wondered if anyone ...

Water pump
I’ve got a slight suspicion that the water pump may not be pumping, i.e. with engine on and radiator cap removed I don’t see any noticeable movement in the water. Other symptom is that heater isn’t working. I replaced the thermostat but that’s made no difference. I also don’t notice any particular d...

Please explain
My car has been off the road for a few months and I’m preparing it for a new MOT. My electric windscreen washer wouldn’t work, except that when I pushed the button, the engine ignition lights would dim. With no obvious fault in sight, I decided to connect a feed directly from the battery to the pump...
