Re: re oil plug
I always anneal my washers when I change the oil. Blowlamp up to cherry red and quench or allow to cool. Softens and allows the washer to bed in. Never have any leaks!

Door handle spring
I saw a thread on this some years ago but cannot find it now. I have taken the door handle mechanism out and find the spring has broken.[frame][/frame]
Cannot seem to find a part number for it. Part is missing so cannot even make one.

Lifting vehicle for greasing
Seeing a recent topic on lifting the vehicle (asked by Stuupnorth) got me remembering someone who did greasing of the infamous bottom trunnions. He had a bar that lifted the front wheels evenly by lifting under the lower trunnions so that grease could be forced into points that cannot be done whilst...

Re: Door Glass removal
How do you get to that stage? I am trying to do same and also remove door lock mechanism. I have removed 3 grommets, removed the three bolts. I have undone two more in the middle of the door panel securing the hinge side runner. Removed two nuts from studs under the quarter light. There is a small s...

Re: Knob for rotating heater control on 1961 Minor 1000
I would imagine a copy (but does indeed look like my original) either that or the seller has collected 12 to sell!
Think there is a little bow spring which goes inside to hold it in position.

Re: Lack of fuel???
Well, we attempted the flow test tonight. Whilst the pump pumps when we are in a moving vehicle, when static it is a bit hesitant and an occasional knock is needed to get it going. Mmmm, its time to take it off the vehicle and look at the setting and points on the bench. Thanks Roy for the lead on t...

Lack of fuel???
Whilst out hilly driving yesterday I struggled up some inclines with stuttering engine. Fuel pump working fine (according to co-driver) Had to stop and restart after a few seconds and made it to the top albeit hesitantly. On the flat, fine, on slight inclines fine. I had plenty of fuel so not low in...

Leather seat repairs
Hi, I know that this topic has been commented on in other posts but has anyone repaired splits in leather seats with any success. Are there any recommended kits, tips, or maybe photographs of restoration. The process looks fairly straightforward. I have found the Furniture Clinic offer a repair kit ...

Pirelli straps
Just browsing the 1000000 site and came across an ad in Autocar (at the time) from Pirelli. It showed a strap on the base of the seat at 90 Degrees to the other six. Although it is some while since I refurbished my seats, I don't remember ever seeing this strap fitted originally.[frame] http://mmoc....

Re: What are these
Aside from the answer to the question, the photograph shows what looks like a wire coming from battery terminal (left side as viewed) across the front of the battery and then being cable tied to a yellow sleeve/wire adjacent to the fuel pump. I would look at this as a matter of urgency if it is a co...

Gearbox Oil Filler & Carpets
Has anyone any tips for accessing gearbox filler point when carpets have been fitted? About to fit new Newton carpets which need bonding down over the tunnel but, obviously, still need access to the filler point. Has anyone done anything smart here? Short of punching a hole through in the correct pl...

Re: Meet Rosie
Hi Chris (and others) I have the 2 door 1961 Yukon Grey but although she has trafficators, they are not yet wired in (they work) Seems like the 'limited edition' colour is quite popular on this forum. Re: Indicator connections
Thanks ManyMinors for your help. To be honest, I didn't look. It was an eBay steal of NOS for £5.99 inc. P&P. The original 1961 fitted one was for trafficators and has the green lamp connected in the switch to each indicator. It thus gives a 'free' continuity check on the opposite trafficator si...

Indicator connections
I have just purchased (eBay) a NOS indicator but seems to have extra wires compared to the original. Colours Green/Red, Green/White - for direction, Green - feed wire, Brown - Horn, but I have an addition Green plus a black wire. Any ideas?

Re: Indicator stalk
Thank you ManyMinors. Got hold of a 3/4W box spanner (32mm or thereabouts!!) and the nut was just nipped up. Expecting a trouble getting the wheel of, a little wiggle and pull and hey presto!! 'New one' which I think may be NOS has PVC sleeving instead of braided sleeve from later car has an extra b...

I have a replacement indicator stalk to fit. Is it a case of removing steering wheel to remove cowl in order to get to fixing clamp bolts. Any tips or advice greatly received.

Re: opening over gearbox cover
Hi,
Mine is a '61 with the 'fug stirrer' heater. There is a control fitted to the parcel shelf which opens a flap valve to take in fresh air. maybe when updated to later heaters early chassis were plated over. Best to seal shut as later air intake is via flexible hose from radiator cowl.
