Thanks andy.pointeer.
The problem was that the top most spade connector was connected, but it needed to be earthed. This seems to have happened when the electric fuel pump was replaced with a mechanical one eons ago.

How to connect a DR3A wiper motor?
Hi, A few years ago a workshop had re-connected the wiper motor(Lucas DR3A single speed) in such a way that the auto-park feature stopped working. Starting from Down to Up there are 3 spade connectors. The middle one has a notch/slit that matches one of the spade 'raised' connectors. I'm not sure if...

Re: Excessive friction in wiper guide rack tube
Thanks simmitc & bmcecosse.
Your method to locate the tube's problematic kink was excellent. A few taps from a mallet improved the movement. Grease did a far better job than oil.
All that's left now is to fit it back.

Excessive friction in wiper guide rack tube
Hi, My Morris(1098cc, 4 door saloon) uses a Lucas DR3A single speed wiper motor. The wiper wheelboxes along with the guide rack tube have been removed for cleaning and lubrication. Now the grased wheelboxes rotate freely. The spiral cable has been removed, cleaned and oiled. When the wiper guide rac...

Re: Sidelight indicator switch(late) replacement
SOLVED: A 33mm bi-hexagonal (12 points) socket fitted and the nut has been taken off, finally!!! The 34mm bi-hexagonal was a bit loose. Something new I learnt ... The bi-hexagonal one grips only the corners and might not be suitable if the nut's corners are rounded/damaged. In such a case use a hexa...

Re: Sidelight indicator switch(late) replacement
Declan, Many thanks for the offer. I will try here first. My mechanic had closed his workshop and was preoccupied with preparations for his wedding on 31-Oct. Hopefully, it will re-open this week and he will make the purchase. The following is a popular brand here http://www.tapariatools.com/socket_...

Re: Sidelight indicator switch(late) replacement
Thanks bmcecosse, IslipMinor, Declan_Burns for the quick responses. My mechanic & his friends have the 34mm spanner, but the its outer diameter is too large to fit in the horn casing. So I'll go to the hardware store and see if I can find one that has a smaller outer diameter. Incidentally, 33mm...

Sidelight indicator switch(late) replacement
Hi, My car's mechanic is having a tough time replacing the sidelight indicator switch (late, with green lens). He informs that in order to replace it, the steering nut(the large one that's under the horn push switch) has to be removed. I'm based in Goa, India and the spanners/tools use the metric sy...

Re: Windscreen rubber size specification
bmcecosse : Yes, they were Completely Knocked Down(CKD) kits. The last being the series 4, 948cc. After this, the Indian government in order to boost Indian manufacturers imposed punitive import duties on CKDs. Re: Windscreen rubber size specification
Thanks All for the replies. I've just recently given the car for a full restoration. Both the windshield rubbers were replaced in 2002 with imports from the UK. Corrosion under the rubbers have caused them to bloat at a few spots. My workshop owner advised that it's best to replace them. In 2002, th...

Windscreen rubber size specification
Hi, My dad owns a 1970 Saloon (1098cc) car. I'm in the process of having the car fully restored. Since I'm based in Goa, I want to procure locally as many parts as possible. For now I want to replace my front windshield rubber and the accompanying plastic chrome insert. I need to know the size and d...
