Re: Dead horn!

Maybe you moved something when trying to fix your bonnet catch? Check all connections closely - remove and refit if able to do so. If it was all working fine before the incident with the bonnet catch it may be something simple! Good luck :D

Re: Radial Tyres - Help

Back to the point about insurance. If the tyres are not as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer - or, given that the original crossplies are virtually unobtainable now - the nearest acceptable radial alternative, in the event of an accident, the wrong size tyres can invalidate your policy. I have...

Jaguar XK 150 Traveller

Don't get me wrong - I like Morris Minor's - especially white Travellers - but I can't decide if this is a work of art or vandalism - to both cars! What do you think? Here's the link to the blog page if you want to read more! Bruce http://arbroath.blogspot.com/2011/09/jaguar-xk150-with-back-of-morri...

Re: seat belts

Agree with charlie_morris_minor - seat belts need to be in the best condition possible. Buying second hand is extremely risky - you have no idea if the belts you buy have been in a car that has been involved in a smash and where their strength may have had to be used. Unless, of course, you are goin...

Re: 1956 convertable splitscreen (pile of rust)

Looking at the possibility of lots of welding on your floor and sills and, as chickenjohn says, the need to brace the doors to maintain the proper dimensions, I was reminded of my own experience when I came to sort out my own car Back in 1988, when I managed to talk a good friend of mine into sortin...

Re: Engine and suspension swap -advice needed

Here's the 'drop straight in' option http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mg-midget-1275-engine-and-gearbox-/160665718656?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item25686c4f80 Will probably go for more than the current price but you are not going to get things much cheaper than £200 - £300 anyway Good L...

Re: 1956 convertable splitscreen (pile of rust)

Yes it is on the DVLA database

Date of Liability = 01 05 1994 (last registered)

Date of First Registration = 24 03 1956

It's a very brave project!!!!

Good Luck

Re: 1954 series 11 black 4 door

Back to the door handles (sorry!) Attached pic is from page 88 of the Paul Skilleter book (original version) showing the interior rear view of the new Series 2 4 door. This is also shown in the earlier design for the seats. Door handles very clearly visible so hope that helps settle your friendly di...

Re: DVLA Database

The site seems to be undergoing regular weekend maintenance at the moment but I used the search facility on Friday from this address: https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/home/intro?skin=directgov. I saved it in my favourites and have just tried it again but have the temporarily unavai...

White 1000 Traveller - FYY 809J

Looking for my first car! A Snowberry white late 1000 Traveller which I sold to a nice guy in Newark in late 1987/early 1988. I think I was the second owner of the car, the first owner having driven it up from Chiselhurst in Surrey. I bought it in Waddington, near Lincoln in 1985 before I passed my ...

MK 1/2 Midget Brake/Clutch Master Cylinder into Minor

Has anyone successfully fitted the joint clutch/brake master cylinder from a Mk1/2 Midget Sprite in the Minor? As far as I can tell it fits in the same location as the original part but may sit slightly proud of the floor. I have disc brakes on the front of the car and am changing the engine for 127...
