Re: Convertible hood problems

Thanks for all your help,I need a bit of further advice ,when you shut the hood you can get a finger in the gap between the screen and the wooden bottom of the hood where the screws go in,surely there shouldn't be much gap otherwise water would pour in in the rain, how do you ever drive these conver...

Re: FRONT WINGS

Welcome aboard moggymate :-) Hope you enjoy playing and driving with your minor. many of the early 1000 cars shared features that could be traced back to the earlier split screen models - the 'clap hands' wipers being just one of these. It took them until the mid sixties to get round to giving the c...

Re: Convertible hood problems

It also helps to ensure that the window is folded away evenly too. It may seem a bit odd to drill a hole there but I have to be honest and say, in all the 30+ years I have been minoring, I have never seen that hood stick ever be rotten so I guess it must work. I put a small amount of clear mastic un...

Re: Once in a lifetime opportunity

Absolutely agree with that :-) Here's the link to the BBC website with the story. Just seeing two on the airfield at Coningsby is enough to bring a lump to your throat. What a tremendous effort from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum staff to even consider allowing their priceless aircraft to tra...

Re: 948cc gearbox into 803cc conversion update

In all honesty, you can save yourself a HUGE amount of time and work if you marry the 803 tailshaft segment of your 803 box to the main gearbox casing of your 948 box having first removed the remote gear lever extension portion from your 948 box. It is a very simple job and has been done many times ...

Re: Tour UK to Spain with a Morris Minor in august 2014

OK well, I'll keep looking in my area - really hope you get the chance to do your trip :-) The car in the advert you posted a link to looks fairly sound. I would think you would want to renew all the brakes and tyres for your trip anyway but as far as the structure goes it looks fairly sound. Good l...

¡Hola Jose :-) Sounds like a great trip. Try this car - it's up in Lincoln (the middle of the UK) but I know the family who are selling it and it is just at the top of your price range but it is a very sound car :-) keep us posted on your progress :-) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1960-2-door-Morris-Min...

Re: How Much is my 1098 Engine/Gearbox worth ?

Hi John, In fairness to Roy (bmcecosse) I think it was me who suggested that you might obtain a heritage certificate to obtain factory records for your car. After all, these are seen to be THE definitive stats and numbers and are often used as evidence to DVLA when disputes arise over registration n...

Spoke to a few guys from the branch at the national last weekend so just counting the days now and really looking forward to the trip. I come over from Cairnryan to Larne on 22nd and am staying ...

Re: 1954 series 11 black 4 door

Mmm, mine was related to the o/s/r light unit - probably water in the lamp unit causing the short. To avoid a similar scenario I fitted an in-line fuse - like the later cars had - to stop a repeat of the fault causing so much damage. It was only after a few owners reported this happening that they a...
