NMP plates

Post by DAVIDMCCULLOUGH »

Heres a good replica of the body plate on ebay at the moment, just needs a batch with no numbers on them! I think only one of my cars still has this on it, they always end up rotten

For a c3/49 MM 2dr

No holes on later Minor's ie ones fitted to NSF engine bay floor - this one for front crossmember.

Excellent reproduction!
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

If anyone is desperate for a NMP plate I can still produce these

The top strip in the pic is the body number plate from the main bulkhead above where the wiper motor is on my car. The middle one is the replacemant I have made by making up a press tool from Rob Thomas's original at the bottom using a soft mould and tooling resin.

This is incidentally the earlier type plate... its generally the same as later ones, but the writing is slightly smaller

PM me if interested.

Taupe

Fabulous workmanship - but in the wrong hands even more worries about identity theft.

Provided the "top tag" is present on the b/head, a case of having the ns glovebox out and examinine the threads of the fixing screws - great difference between "undisturbed for 50yrs" and "moved recently"....

I only issue these once the buyer has provided a rubbing or photo of their bulkhead tag.

That is completely reassuring, thanks. The chap advertising on eBay also sounds to be completely genuine, but would be advised to follow the same procedure for the blank ones he may produce. I know that the only people I've found advertising to engrave new chassis plates require a V5 with the order, but this wouldn't be of any use for verification of an NMP or bulkhead plate.

Taupe, have tried PM but no avail thus far. Are you still producing the NMP plates as mine is missing after a new chassis leg about 20 years ago. ? Please , pretty please etc

Sounds like he's up to his neck in bricks 'n' mortar at present.
Good luck with the house build Taupe, I hope it all goes relatively smoothly, so you can quickly get back to the important things in life, like rebuilding classic cars! :P
I take it you've included a fair sized workshop in your construction plans?..............
Best wishes,

The original plate shown in the photo at the top of the page was mine. Taupe copied the shape from that and he sent me one as a thank-you for the loan of the original. I have to say that the quality of his product was astounding, as are all the parts he made for his Trav.

I hope the house build goes well, and fast. I miss seeing his bodywork pictures posted up on here!

If anyone knows him or is in touch by a method other than this one, please let him know of the interest. If he brings some to the National I am sure he would sell the lot!
