For period correctness could be either silver or white on a black background or reflective. (IIRC reflectives were available from 1968 but not compulsory until 1974). If reflective NOT perspex ones.
IMHO Unless you have a lot of money to spend on plates with raised clip-on letters/numbers, then embossed pressed alloy ones are probably best.
Worth bearing in mind Minor saloons often had a specially shaped rear plate to fit the slight recess in the boot lid

lovely thank you I've ordered up some white raised on black background with no border! should finish the full restoration!!!
