New chassis ID plate

Post by boody227 »

Hi all, bought another minor. It was almost finished being restored around 20 years ago then ended up being dry stored.
My question is, can I get a chassis number plate reproduced?
The old one has corroded and is only just readable now.
Thanks,
Luke

You can get the identification plates from most Minor retailers and then all you need to do in stamp in the numbers yourself.
here is a link to one such supplier:

Hi

I recommend that you screw the old one to the car in an inconspicuous location such as in the boot or behind the glove box liner so it dosent get lost. It may prove invaluable if the cars identity is ever called into question in future.

Yeah, that was my original worry. It was removed for spraying of the body many years ago, I bought the car with no logbook and hoped it was legible enough for me to get the number to send for a logbook.
Luckily it is so I now just have to preserve it as best I can and put a new one in its place.
