What amuses me is the fact that reports say (for example) Gary Lineker "earns" £XXX amount. He doesn't "earn" it, he "gets" this money courtesy of us mugs.

Amazing what you can earn for "reading out loud" off the autocue, That's "talent" apparently.

People get paid what other people are prepared to pay them.

Can't blame them for taking it. I would.

Pay and gender divides aside, I am happy to contribute to the likes of John Humphries who holds our lying politicians to account (rather less so when it is the so called celebrities and Chris Evans) and virtually anything on Radio 4 and Radio 3, but as the BBC is without doubt the finest public service broadcaster in the world, beware of allowing the aforementioned mendacious self serving politicians, of whatever hue to meddle with it. You will only really appreciate its true worth when they have butchered it !

Whilst I find the salaries eye watering rather than just publishing the totals it would be helpful if they had broken down the payments. As usual the reporting media look to cook up a fury without divulging the full information.
Reminds me of the reporting of the election before last....

Lewis Hamilton and Wayne Rooney have got to be the most overpaid people ever and as for Gary Lineker I would eat the crisps for nothing [Except salt and vinegar ]

Big numbers always attract lots of publicity. I had a brief spell in local government a few years ago (and in general found the people I worked with as hard working and intelligent as those I spent most of my life working with in the private sector). During that period the Daily Mail chose to pick on the chief exec of the council where I worked for earning around £200k, for being responsible for all the highways, education, libraries, refuse and children's services etc in a large prosperous county. It chose to ignore that many partners in legal and accountancy firms in the county were probably paid at least as much, and that the editor of the Daily Mail was paid over £2m :-?

Ah! but since when did the Facist Daily appreciate the subtle irony of its own ranting?

but as the BBC is without doubt the finest public service broadcaster in the world
For this read: Left wing liberal propaganda machine determined to foist it's agenda of indoctrination on the rest of the population, whether we like it or not.
Or in short: Conform or be cast out.
And anyone who doesn't agree with their doctrine is obviously an extreme right wing fascist / racist bug to be crushed and silenced at all costs. Under no circumstances should anyone who doesn't share their philosophy be allowed an unfettered voice for the general populous to hear, in case (heaven forbid) they should start thinking for themselves and question their ideological masters plans for their future.................

The BBC used to be great until the left slipped in and took it over, now we get only one viewpoint from it, played subtly of course.
Sorry but I think it's time the BBC was sold off, as I don't why we should be paying for this C**P, especially when good BBC programs are so thin on the ground these days!

Yes, God bless Terry, he was a one off, everyone liked him. Sad day when he left us for the great microphone in the sky at Radio Heaven.
Best wishes,
Mike.
