Leak from screws on sender unit
My Mog is a 1964 transitional Traveller. Recently fitted new sender unit and gasket but have slight leak from one of the top screws. Have tried tightening up all the screws slightly but leak persists. A well known parts supplier has suggested Hylomar Blue smeared on as a solution. Do I put it on the top of the tank or one or both sides of the sender unit gasket? Any help much appreciated!
Re: Leak from screws on sender unit
I would just out a spot on each screw hole - under each screw - not on the gasket as such.

Re: Leak from screws on sender unit
I had problems sealing the tank level switch on my MG TD which is mounted at the bottom of the tank and is a known nightmare to seal. There is a huge difference between fuel proof and fuel resistant. Hylomar is not fuel proof. I used "Reinzoplast" as recommended by the MG guys and it worked. It is fuel proof and I find it far superior to Hylomar but that's my personal opinion. Another product recommended was Heldite made by Heldite Ltd UK. I haven't tried it. I also fitted plastic washers under the screws and a smear of sealant on the threads.
