Hi

The correct pipe route and the rubber protection sleeve over the crossmember is shown quite clearly in the illustration in the manual page M2. The route for LHD is also shown dotted.

Whilst I agree with you as regards the pipe going over the cross member - the pipe run to the front on my 1957 built Minor is different and is as far as I am aware (I have known the car since new) is the original routing. The pipe material has been changed from steel to Kunifer but not the route forward.
The clip item No: 37 of illustration M2 (clip to longitudinal member) - where does it attach? - Not as per the M2 illustration as there is no flange on the bottom of the chassis leg for it to attach to. There is a flange at the top of the chassis leg which it could be attached to.
I would suggest that illustration M2 is a generic diagram and is not in all cases correct.
