My fuel tank sender has been working OK but there is fuel in the float ( about a teaspoon) but no hole that I can find. Does anyone know where I can get a new float - the sender itself is in good condition, or do I just carry on using it?
Just found that Moss sell a replacement brass float https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/float-fue ... 0-646.html

Re: Fuel in tank sender float
I would try this before spending on a new float.
Remove the float from the arm, place the float in hot water and a stream of bubbles from the leak hole will appear, mark the hole, drain and dry any fuel from the float and seal the hole by melting around the hole with a warm soldering iron, refit the float to the arm, jobs done.
If you can find a fuel resistant glue use that to seal the leak hole instead.

Re: Fuel in tank sender float
Well Phil, I tried this trick, put the float in the fridge overnight, and then straight into boiling water - no bubbles, so I suspect the fuel in the float has transferred by some form of osmosis over 50 years, so I'll leave it as it is for the time being, as it still works, and just keep an eye on it.
Thanks for the advice.
