Loctited bearing adapter

Post by leyther8008 »

Ok so I get my set of secondhand discs and legs, notice that theres a bit of slop in the bottom trunnion and think 'no problem' I'll just swap the relevant bits onto my suspension leg sorted.
WRONG I cant get the bearing/oilseal adapter off the old stub axle, I assume its been Locktited on, does anybody know of a solvent I can soak the thing with to try to get it off with, without ruining the running surfaces?
Locktite seems to be plusgas tite (or wd40s equvalent penetrating spray).

Yes - I think it will need to be heated to get it off - and then shrunk onto the other kingpin.

they should be an interferance fit not loctited on so heat should be the only way to get them off

Quite normal to Loctite the bearing adapter on. A bit of heat will get it off.

Some people are like slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you throw them downstairs.
