Hi to you all
My Name is Graham Barker I live in the Medway towns Kent.
At the moment I have a 7 type Kit Car which I built about 16 years ago, that we (my wife and I) have had fun with for all those years, we quite often go to the local shows and enjoy a good day out.
I am knocking on in years now and are finding it a little tricky getting in and out of the Kit Car.
I am looking at selling the Kit Car and progressing to something a little higher that I can get into easier.
My wife would like a moggy preferably a soft top, and that appeals to me also.(or a hard top).

My question to the forum is What are the things to look for and were are the bits that are expensive to get repaired.
I have looked at the forum and found the advice, but I would like it explained more thoroughly if possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am hoping to be looking in the spring of 14 so have time to sort things out.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Graham, welcome to the forum!

The very best thing you can do is join your local branch, from Medway you could easily reach any of the three Kent clubs.

I'm in the East Kent branch. In fact one of our members recently had a nice convertible up for sale a cheese grater grill split screen.

As for what to look out for, rust and patches on the underside are the main worries. The rest are normal checks you would make on any car. Also check if the car is a genuine convertible or not and if not this will reflect in the value.

As for cost of repairs, welding is the most time consuming and therefore the most expensive.

Hi Graham, from my club connections have just heard of a traveller for sale in Kent. If you are interested in having a look (if just for experience) then PM me and I'll give you their details.
