STAGE 21-23:
For those wondering where the charity car is today, and perhaps worrying a little that there have been no posts of today's fund raisers, please don't worry. All is well. Occasionally the car will be driven by members who do not use social media. On those stages we are relying on pictures being sent to us from the events via e mail. A soon as we have these will post them up for you but this may result in some delays in updating our pages. Please be patient and we'll upload as soon as we can.
Fear Not! everyone - the Charity car is alive and well and is now resting after a hard days work in Lancashire and Sefton.

Steve Rose of the Lancashire Branch Reports:

"We had a great day at Tesco's in Leyland with plenty of interest. Nine Minors supported the MMOC Minor. The photographer from the Lancashire Evening Post turned up as arranged and took a selection of pictures including some of the Tesco Store Staff who had helped me to set up the event. The Marie Curie Rep - Katherine Howell also visited us. She is in the black dress in the group photos.

I also attach copies of the articles from the Cumbria Magazine about Cumbria Branch and last night's edition of the Lancashire Evening Post about Lancashire Branch."

Keith Sartain from Sefton also reports a good turnout in Formby too. Hopefuly a few pics to follow from there tomorrow.

Saturday - must be Stoke on Trent! Charity car is now on it's way to Wilmslow after a very good morning at Festival Park in Stoke and Tesco in Crewe. South Cheshire safely delivered the car to South East Staffs, Potteries and Shropshire branches and after some very heavy collection buckets were seen heading towards Gill Shaw, the car is now on it's way once again. Thanks folks - great job! Good luck Manchester and Barnsley and North Lincolnshire tomorrow.

Now on its way to Barnsley, it's in fine shape and running like a train. We are doing our count in the morning so will let you all know what we collected. But we had seven very heavy buckets!

We have now emptied the buckets and counted the collection we made at Handforth Dean.
We raised £1,440 !! Thank you to everyone who helped on the day.

STAGE 31:

The car is just leaving the Waverley in Rotherham. We've waved good bye to our new buddies in the Sheffield Dubs VW Club. What a super and generous group. Thanks Martin at the Sheffield dubs VW club for allowing us to join their gathering. Thanks also to our to landlady Yvonne and the lovely Bob one of the club organisers for doning a silly yellow top hat and doing some serious collecting for the MMOC'S Marie Curie coffers. Now on the way to Normanby Hall in North Lincs to send the car off onto the next leg of its EPIC Journey

[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

Can we just say that we are REALLY impressed by the wonderful reception the car got at The Waverley in Sheffield. Although the venue was being used for the day by the Sheffield Dubs VW Club for a meet, they welcomed the car so warmly AND helped us raise funds for Marie Curie. Really proud to see such a great bond between all forms of classic car clubs. We're very pleased to see that the charity car is making new friends wherever it goes. Onwards now towards North Lincolnshire at Normanby Hall - get ready folks, we're a coming!

Morris Minor Owners Philippa (Flip) and Stephen Miller are part of the Zack FM team and Flip has invited Bruce onto the show this evening at 6 to talk about the Charity Marathon. Thanks for the support guys - we look forward to speaking to you later

Wow! That weekend went sooo quickly. Another fabulous day on our marathon quest. Brilliant efforts today from Barnsley, the Sheffield Dubs VW club who we meet in Sheffield and North Lincs. Car is now safely handed over to the care of the Lincolnshire Branch as we head into the East Midlands.

[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]
So tomorrow we move into Day Eleven of the Morris Minor Owners Club 40th Anniversary Charity Marathon. It's the turn of the Lincolnshire and MADMOG branches to receive the car before we end up at the MMOC's new headquarters in Derby. We're absolutely thrilled and amazed by the amounts being raised for Marie Curie. The numbers are just staggering. Please DO keep up the good work. It's a very overused saying but every penny DOES count!
The combined branches in the North of England, Scotland, North Wales and the Isle of Man have set a very high bar. Good luck to all the branches yet to have their turn.

Just got home after a very long day today, but cheered on by many supporters and fundraisers who keep the impetus going. I think a hot bath and a small (ish) brandy is in order

So has anything been happening today with the Charity car? You bet it has - Following its arrival last night at MMOC HQ, the car was the star of East Midlands Today when presenter Dominic Heale got in touch with his past and drove a Minor for the first time in many years ably assisted by our very own Brian Fletcher and MMOC Club Secretary Ray Newell. Here's a taste from the lunchtime news bulletin at 8:41 into the programme. We'll post the full story link a bit later when the BBC post it. It won't be accessible for long though so please watch both asap
