Re: Lots of badgers
That is ultimately the point . Is it the unspeakable in pursuit of the inedible - so called sport! or is it done for food and / or management in a humane fashion. ???
Re: Lots of badgers
Ok you're up front about it but the key word is LIKE! I find it difficult to understand why someone would like/ enjoy ending the life of something that's doing its own thing. When you see a bird or whatever fall to the ground I wonder if you feel anything.samuria wrote:i like hunting and shooting, was taught by my father at a early age.

Re: Lots of badgers
I don't eat meat. Without getting into the rights or wrong of hunting, if you need food, liking doing it is a different matter.

I dare say you do it 'to your best ability' that's not the issue though, I know your views, you know mine. I can't see the point of saying much more.

Think his name is John Watterson? I saw him as support act to Fairport Convention a few years ago. He's very good.firedrake1942 wrote:I love 'Sister Josephine' and 'On again" one of the few artists who can reduce you to tears. There is a tribute group called 'Fake Thackray'
Jake Thackray was a genius, a shame that he had problems in later life and stopped performing

Re: Lots of badgers
Like me he lived in France and taught there. He opened several times for a genius in France - long dead now - like Jake, called George Brassens and even translated one of his songs Gare au Gorille very faithfully. Brassens was also iconoclastic and a wonderful folk singer, often poking fun at the establishment. He sounds like a French Jake Thackray or should that be Jake Thackray sounds like an English Georges Brassens ?

I'd suggest that our vegetarian friends avoid his song 'The tortoise '....about a man who confuses said reptile with a crunchy pie.

Re: Lots of badgers
Seems that he stopped enjoying performing, became alcoholic, marriage broke up and was bankrupt. Only sang religious songs at his Catholic Church. Died far too young...early '60's I think.

Re: Lots of badgers
Came across these words to one of his little known songs, about his old dog:-
You haven't got a bloody clue!
You never do the things that proper dogs do
Like finding your way home
Or what to do with bones,as proper dogs do
You walk in your sleep, you feel worried by sheep
Jesus Christ,I've never known a dog as clueless as you
You haven't got a bloody clue!
If I threw a stick you'd bring me back a lampshade
You can't climb stairs, you stare at empty chairs
You listen to the gramophone
You sniff ladies' frocks and the crotches of clergymen
Jesus Christ,I've never known a dog as clueless as you
But you're so nice,oh so nice
You bark in the darkness, you fart at our parties
So nice,oh so nice
Visitors who visit us visit us twice
You haven't got a bloody clue!
I know no other dog that's got a favourite handbag
You've no sense of smell
You cannot tell a policeman from a lamppost
You sleep and you eat, God knows you excrete!
Jesus Christ,I've never known a dog as clueless as you
But you're so nice,oh so nice
Burglars adore you, they come back for more of you
So nice,oh so nice
Burglars who burgle us,burgle us twice
You haven't got a bloody clue!
I couldn't give a toss,because I rather like it
I couldn't give a toss because you do not do the things that proper dogs do
You don't fight,you don't bite,
There is no kind of spite about you
Jesus Christ,I'm sure, would love a dog that's as clueless as you

Re: Lots of badgers
Would you like it if a mad Bear Grylls wannabe Rabbit with a 12 bore started shooting at you?samuria wrote:i like hunting and shooting, was taught by my father at a early age.

NO justification for killing ANYTHING - quite a few horrid humans yes - there's rice, beans, cheese, pasta, Quorn, potato's....what else do you need, far too spoilt in the West...
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!
