'61 Minor...? Hmm.
Do your indicators flash the brake lights, rather than separate amber flashers? If so, your problem may lie in the (expensive) 8 way relay in the engine bay. It's on the left-hand inner wing when looking at the car.
Can you isolate the circuits and make the brake lights run permanently from the battery?

Lo, according to my diagrams your white/brown wire should
be connected to PIN 7 on the 'eight pin direction indicator
relay unit'. it passes through the internal contacts and should
appear at PIN 5 (Green/Purple wire) which goes to the stop
lamp switch. The other side of the stop lamp switch (Green)
goes to FUSE A4 the other green wires at this junction feed
the fuel guage,...the direction indicator switch...and the flasher
unit. If none of those are working then you are not getting
a supply through the fuse
