OK to use Lucas 45d Dizzy

Post by zippy500 »

Is it OK to use Lucas 45d Dizzy in the 1098. Theres lots out there on ebay,
but no 25d's

Is it just the advance thats different-will it be noticeable difference.

Would it work ok. Its advertsied to fit moggys and Land rovers, Do they share the same distributor.

No - only fits A+ engines. Very different mounting and drive shaft. You can use a 43D.

I have a 45d Lucas in my 1098er a-series. I´ve bought it this way but cannot tell if the former owner has modified it to make it fit. Works well, though.

Sure it's not a 43 ?? They look the same. Probably could make a 45 fit - but is it worth all the hassle ?

The pickup has a 45d on it - I know because I fitted it!

I do recall needing to slightly tweak something to get it to slot in fully, but nothing major :)

Sorry - moment of madness - YES you can use 45D - it's the 49D that fits the A+.
