I'm afraid to tell you but that rust looks like it needs to be cut out and welded properly otherwise it will spread.
Having gone so far I would cut it out and repair it.

I had the whole car welded and whole respray done by a company just over a 6 months ago and spent 5k doing it and they had the car for over a year doing it, I wont tell you that when It came back It’s missing lots of the parts that It went with, I thought this was caused by where the metal was rubbing on the boot above ie metal on metal.

Regards
Anthony

I'm only looking at the picture on my tablet but it looks like it's perforated.

Totally solid It’s the angle of the picture taken, just a bad paint paint job done and It got chipped off and started to rust as the car stands out In the drive with a cover and metal was hitting metal.

Glad to hear that it's nothing more serious than some scratching and light surface rust. You'll be relieved about that !

Just shows how photos can be misleading. Along with some of the others, I looked at that photo a few times and I was convinced it was far worse too.

Pain In the DONT SWEAR OR YOU WILL BE BANNED to get the front secured, seems the nuts that came with kit will not do up even tried a new kit same thing, ended up having to use cutting paste and tighten then slacken and take some metal off the pin.
