Hi everybody,
My names Ben, I'm 19 years old. My first car was my Morris I had her for a year and a bit then seized the engine (no oil) good start to the mechanics apprenticeship!
She sat around for almost a year but now she's all stripped sand blasted, welded and treated, ready for paint on the 30th. She's a 1970 two door snowberry white, with genuin mileage of 45,000 not that it means much now because I'm completely restoring her but it's nice too know I've got all the history, hopefully I can keep you updated on here.
I'm very excited to get her done!

Only problem is it was painted a month ago, and if you touch the roof with your nail it can indent it? So the paint is still a bit soft is this okay???

Unless the paint has been sprayed in a heated spray booth or baked in a curing oven this cold and damp weather we have been having will have an impact on the paint drying time - it is normal for the paint to take some time to harden.
Always best to spray in a warm low humidity atmosphere.

Yeah the guy who done it didn't have a booth but was heated and did bake it I just don't think for long enough! Hopefully it will sort itself out! I will hopefully have the engine in it by the end of the month, reboard it and have new pistons, rings, gudgeon pins and small ends, big ends, mains, reground crank and balanced, going all out and that's just the spare engine not the original!! Hope this is all worth it!

The weather certainly won't be helping but if it's still soft after a month I would be talking with the painter.

Not sagging no, he reckons it is quite soft stuff, it's not horrendously soft just it can be indented with your nail. Hopefully time will sort it out.
Also I've got fuel tank in fuel line, front and rear susispension all the hubs and brakes are on new bearings. Which brings me to the next problem I've replaced the front wheel bearings with recommend ones from bull motif and have fitted them correctly but they have a lot of free play? Has anyone had this problem with fitting new bearings?
Also I've just fitted my new pistons, rings gudgeon pins, small ends, main and big end bearings, with cylinders rebored, can't wait to get that back in there!!

Are these the ones supplied by BM?

If you have fitted the bearings the right way round with the bearing spacer fitted and the hub nut to the correct torque (40 lb ft) there should be absolutely no play in the front wheel bearings.

No doubt there will be someone on here with further information.
