Agreed. I am beginning to think I am wasting my time visiting this site, the changes to it do not seem to have enhanced my experience and I have to sort through the chaff to find the genuine posts. It's hard work now   .

I know what you mean. I thought that people had been very active today and got all excited, but then it turned out to be some person who had joined just over an hour ago just to spam the same things. The question is, why us?

The spam problem has been reported to admin (our IT provider) who are looking into it. Believe me it's as annoying having to delete it as it is seeing it! :( Spammers frequent all sorts of sites so I don't think we are being particularly targeted (unless Morris Minor owners have been singled out as needing cheap Viagra and 'adult' services!) It could be that the previous messageboard was so old that the spammers mainly ignored it, although we did previously get spam messages but not on the scale that it is at the moment. I can only hope that the problem is sorted soon but in the meantime thank you for your patience, and to those who have been reporting the posts, as it means that the mods can identify them quicker.

Surely anyone wanting to join/post has to jump through at least a small hoop, like what was Mr issigoniss's first name?
Not many robots know that, nor foreign spammers?

When registering here people have to provide a valid email address. They are then sent an email to that account which provides a link to validate their registration. So there is some level of security to bypass after joining to prevent 'robot' spamming but obviously not enough! As mentioned previously the matter has been raised with our IT provider so it is being investigated.

I spent a lot of time translating the east european message. I got as far as the homeopathic remedy for piles which consisted of nettles and a bramble. I gave up after that.

I will thank the person that has sent me a PM on a few different occasions (THANKS - in case you are reading) for doing their bit.
As per LouiseM, I hope that Colorus can resolve quickly as finding and deleting LOTS of messages is time consuming.

(I get an email when I get a PM - I see the mail on my phone - it can be quick if I'm not busy)

our IT provider appear to offer a varied and comprehensive service for clients, so I'm surprised they have been unable to fix our problems to date. I'm wondering if there is a financial implication that's the stumbling block in obtaining a more secure forum.

I agree the forum seems to have actually taken a retrograde step. It's still a basic forum and now photographs are hard or unable to be posted?

Hackers on many topics this morning and also a PM message to me from a hacker!
You may as well close this site down until it gets 100% sorted, as it this is getting completely out of hand, and does nothing for MMOC's reputation.

Messages now deleted - managed to ban the spammer whilst it was still posting (these are 'spambots' rather than individuals). Please forward me a copy of the pm you received from a spammer. Thanks
