Wiper motor finish

Sorry, I'm in obsessive mode again. I'm just restoring the wiper motor on my 71 Traveller. The images I've found of exchange replacements all seem to have a Hammerite or wrinkle finish to the black motor casing. Looking at the Ray Newell bible the original motors appear to be a flat satin or gloss black to the motor and natural grey metal to the drive gear housing. Any views on this, please?

I once had an original unit which was black Crinkle finish on the casing.

Cheers Les. I need to get hold of some wrinkle finish black for the heater front plate, so should do for both.

To second Les.
The paint finish on the main body of my original 1957 wiper motor is a black crinkle finish with the ends of the body plain metal and the rest of the wiper also plain metal.
The paint finish is a semi matt finish similar to Berlin Black.

That is the same paint that I used on my facia and on a Smith's heater that I am currently restoring for the MG so I can drive it in the winter.
Follow the instructions very closely and you can get a lovely finish.
