Interior floor coating

Spent time today removing the orange primer the floor had been painted with. Underneath there is a black pitch like material- I assume this is original, and was applied to provide sound deadening? If so what is it recommended to replace this where I've cleaned it off?

I used stonechip on my floor, it gave that original pebbled surface finish that, when dry, can be sprayed over with body colour.

"Raptor" textured painty stuff is good for this. Stonechip looks great but the downside is that it isn't necessarily waterproof and water can get underneath it. the pitch can act as an anti-drumming material to dampen out harmonics.

Didn't realise/think stone chip could absorb water, I've been lucky so far, 15 yrs and counting! :D

I have just stripped my floor back and refinished.

Started by all the seams cleaned out and a coat of EM121 over them.

Let that cure and then tiger sealed all of the seams, then a coat of EM121 over the whole floor.

Once that had cured a light coat of gravitex (stonechip) over the floor.

Than finished with a couple of coats of Tekaloid.

Quite a lot of work but has made a good job of it.

Not a particularly clear shot but gives a clue to the finish.
