Grande Parade

Oxford

Sunday 30th November

At 11:00 am on the dot, the Grande Parade set off from the car park outside 'T Building' at the Mini plant at Cowley led by Katy (the MMOC Charity Car) carrying Club Chairman John Frye and the Mayor of Oxford. The convoy of cars from each year of production started off with a trip around the Cowley site, led by a Fire Engine, and followed by an Ambulance!

The cars left the plant (without the escort) and were followed off into Oxford by a few dozen 'ordinary' minors. The route took the parade through Cowley, and through the centre of Oxford, attracting lots of attention, and large numbers of photographers along the route. The parade finished at the Oxford Spires Four Pillars hotel for a buffet lunch.

Lunch was followed by brief speeches from Club Secretary Ray Newell and the Mayor, and a leisurely drive back to 'T Building' for the Annual General Meeting.
