WANT TO BUY A CAR? LOOKING FOR THAT VITAL PART?Pick up a copy of MINOR MATTERS by joining the Morris Minor Owners Club! Notes for Authors MINOR MATTERS Notes for Authors and Contributors Ever wanted to write something for MINOR MATTERS, but you were never really sure how to go about it? Well here are a few ideas to get you started SUBJECTS Articles relating to Morris Minors manufactured between 1948 - 1971 will be considered, technical, historical or anecdotal. Supported by photos (prints, transparencies, black & white or colour), sketches, artwork, tables etc. Individual articles are usually one thousand to two thousand words in length, although longer articles will be considered. SUBMISSION Check with the editor before writing your article. Somebody else may just have submitted something similar to your article. The editor may or may not be looking for your type of article. Submission of material is no guarantee of publication. Deadlines' / copydates are approximately six weeks before publication. The editor cannot guarantee in which issue an article will be printed, as space for individual articles can be allocated up to six months in advance. The Editor also tries to achieve a satisfactory balance of articles to appeal to all tastes, both within each issue and throughout the year.
MINOR MATTERS DEADLINES PREPARATION Material should (preferably) be typed and double spaced. Giving the length of the article in words, is helpful. Bibliography / further reading as appropriate. Including the text on a PC formatted disc is very helpful, and preferred, although Apple Macintosh discs are acceptable. Articles can be accepted by e-mail, preferably as plain text in the body of the e-mail itself. Please liaise with the Editor before sending any file attachments. ARTWORK AND PHOTOGRAPHY Colour and black & white photographs are gratefully accepted. Prints, transparencies and negatives can be accepted. Front cover artwork must be in portrait orientation, with space at the top for the MINOR MATTERS logo, and prints must be at least A4 in size or accompanied by the negative. Cartoons, sketches and line drawings can also be accepted. Photocopies are usually of too poor a quality to reproduce. Digital photographs should be as high a quality and size as possible - consult the editor for details before submitting. COPYRIGHT Copyright usually rests with the author. The typography (how the article is laid out on the page) rests with the magazine. Bear in mind that submitting the article to two different publications simultaneously could lead to an embarrassing situation. Articles submitted for publication in MINOR MATTERS should be of original, unpublished work, and are accepted on the basis that they will not be published in any other journal. PAYMENTS Payments may be made for printed material. Usual rates (at the editor's discretion) are £25 to £50 per printed page, £10 per cartoon or graphic. The Editor usually makes payments within one month of publication. EDITING The editorial team reserves the right to alter text. However, if this happens, then it is done sensitively and discreetly, and where possible, the author shall be consulted. COMMUNICATION You can contact the editorial team by writing to their home addresses, which are printed on the Club Services pages in each issue of MINOR MATTERS. |
