Minor Matters is printed on well-managed FSC paper using vegetable-based inks. The wrapping it comes in is degradable and will break down in the soil.
from the editor in this issue
If I said that this has issue feels a bit ‘wooden’, I would hopefully
be referring to its content rather than
its use of English. In order to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of Morris Minor Traveller production, Bryan Gostling, early Traveller
enthusiast and owner, has compiled a feature about the oldest Travellers known to be in existence. Also included in the feature are a couple of interesting snapshots of what is believed to have been the Traveller prototype. The other big lump of wood in this issue is a pick-up owned by John and Nina Jones that has had its load bed replaced with a wooden item. That might not sound like anything special until you see that the lines of an original steel pick-up
bed have been replicated exactly in hardwood through painstaking effort and modern adhesives. It took my breath away when I went to photograph it.
Wrapped around these two major features are all the regular items including an interesting archive photo in the centrespread as well as a selection of postcards – mostly from overseas destinations – that include Minors in their pictures from member Alan Yates. It’s fair to say that Viewpoint, Technical Tips, the aforementioned features, Branch News, Members’ Cars and much of Noticeboard depend on contributions from members so please keep that correspondence coming in.
Looking ahead, there’s an end of season event at Kelmarsh and the return of the NEC Classic Car Show to look forward to. Both these events are advertised on the reverse of this issue’s carrier sheet.
