Re: Water leak. Best method to fix it is.....

I can't get the blanking plug out. When the head was off, I used an impact hammer without success. I tried heating it, without success. Now the slot in the plug is starting to round off. A long breaker bar probably won't work because the slot is starting to round too much. If I drill it out and re-t...

Trav Rear Suspension overhaul

Whilst ordering some bits to solve my water leak, I thought I'd add some rear springs to the list because I keep getting an advisory MOT note for "Rusty Shackles on rear suspension". I was going to order 2 new leaf spring because they are past there best. I have some new polly bushes to us...

Water leak. Best method to fix it is.....

My water pump by-pass hose has sprung a little pin hole leak, but it's enough to squirt out and cover the wing mirror. So what is the best way of replacing it? A) Wiggle a new one in place. B) Remove the head C) Remove the water pump Does anyone know where I can get a black silicone hose to use but ...

Famous - At last

I so pleased my Moggy has made it the home page of this fine web site. Photo taken of my 59 Old English White Trav outside the Earls Court Motor Show building at Goodwood Circuit. I'm hoping to get some more pic during the revival in September :) Next step - Minor Matters. How do I get my car shown ...

Re: Easter Wekend - Planned jobs on the Morris

It's deffo from the head gasket, The engine is spotlessly clean and you can see the oil coming out below the head. Wipe it away and it comes back within 30Secs. 40Nm ish is about 30Ft Lbs. It's always hard to tell how tight something is when the toqure wrench is set about that point. Should be done ...

http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr137/littleblackflash/DSC01007.jpg Seat belts finished :) I re-sealed the tappet covers but still have an oil leak and I'm affraid it's coming from the head gasket. I've tightened the head bolts and they were quite loose - 40Nm ish. But I can still see the oil co...

Easter Wekend - Planned jobs on the Morris

With a long weekend I thought it was time to get the Morris back in my garage and sort out some of those jobs I've been meaning to do. So far this weekend I've, Removed carpet and access panel to gearbox. Exchanged Clutch pedal and linkage. Removed all seats Removed side trim/ rear arm rest in the t...

Re: Seatbelt shenanigans

I'm about to fit some belts to my Trav and I'm still unsure how. I was going to use a seperate anchor point for the inertia reel and the lower fixing. I see the photo's show the belts fitted with on the same nut.

Is this how everyone else has done them?

Re: Tie Bar Castle Nut Size?

I'm thinking of removing mine because the rubber bushes have worn. I have the bushes but there is so much underseal on the nut I can't see if there is a split pin or not. Anyone know?

May of been the brushes on the dynamo running in or seating correctly.

Don't touch it now.

Sounds like a clutch release bearing failing.

Just whipp out the gearbox and change it. :D

Re: Pedals rocking ?

Woo hoo :D

Finally after many emails and call I got one. Thanks for the link to J.S.Jones who came up trumps, although double the price of ESM

I need the car back on the road because I need the garage space for other projects.

Re: Pedals rocking ?

Can't find there phone number on the website so I've fired off an email.

I think everyone gets them from the same place because they all have the same excuse. The supplier has none and they sub the manufacture out to India.

Re: Pedals rocking ?

Well I started today,,, but didn't finish. The tunnel came apart easily and the clutch pedal nut came undone easily. However tapping it out proved slightly harder because the washer on the end was rusted on. A good hard whack soon had it free but burred the end of the thread over. :( With the pedal ...

Re: Wiring flasher relay

too late I opened it. As expected, it's very simple inside and not very well made. The biometalic strip part was working but the little armiture on the end was bent and not touching the terminal for the indicator stalk when clicking in. I repositioned it (bent it back) and now it is all working fine...
