bmw head.....
i seem to remember eading some time ago that the bmw k100 series 16v head fits very nicely onto an aseries engine, mated with the matching fuel injection this gives over 100bhp, however how much work is involved in this? has anyone done it? i know it fits due to the bore gaps being identical, howeve...

Re: University subsitence costs
But let's be honest most students are bone idle. Living off mommy and daddy combined with government hand outs is hardly being self sufficient is it? Out of our year group the people doing the best are the ones who work. Becuase they get stuff done. The jobless ones then hand stuff in late and compl...

Re: University subsitence costs
Absolute nonsense. I work 16 hrs, full time uni and raise a child, if I can do that and still average a 1st then everyone can live in the real world and actually provide for them selves. Education suffering becuase of work, what nonsense. Abit of independance is what they need, the days of mommy and...

Re: University subsitence costs
Actually they don't get that much, my campus is nearly all Chinese, becuase they pay more, they pay 10k a year atm, which they have to pay upfront, no loans. Ofcourse the uni then let's them cheat so they get 10k again next year..... And tbh for what ypu get no one can moan about paying for it, tert...

Re: Calling all web editor-type nerds
you need to make the image as a 16x16 icon (with file extention .ico) you then need to drop this in the root directory for the website in question, and insirt this code between the <head> and </head> tags <LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="/~your_directory/logo.ico"> where your dire...

Re: Battery types revisited
Each to thier own, but I find that a little sad, if you look after it the salt isn't really a problem. They weren't designed to be admired, they were designed to be used!

Re: Battery types revisited
theres no good reason to completely lay it up for winter though, you just make more problems than you solve, with batteries and brakes and even engine components. the car was designed to be used wasnt it? and winters are no worse now than they were in the 50/60's. just go out, ahve fun and give it a...

Re: electric fans
you really shouldnt need a fan as the engines dont get that hot anyway! if you are overheating id look at the existing cooling system for problems before trying an electric fan.

Re: Gearing?
if it wont goa bove 60 then timing would be my call, my standard 1098 is good for a touch under 80(bloody lound mind) on the motorway and happily cruises at 65... and its hardly the best example of an engine!

Re: Sidelights/indicater mot fail
If your earthing to fiberglass then your not earthing at all, it needs to run to good metal. If there's two pins then one is power for side lights, the other indicators, the body being the earth, connect the wires as appropriate and see how it works then.

Re: Insurance and NCD
You can't earn or carry a ncb on any classic policy the only way round it would be to insure it through a normal policy with a regular provider, 99% of whom won't insure it due to age..... Just don't get another modern =]
