Re: Horn push frustration
That was it thanks. I had no idea how the horn mechanism worked. All working now.

Horn push frustration
I had a few little jobs to do today and one of them was swapping the late steering wheel for a banjo type. Whilst I had the steering wheel off I attempted to adjust the indicator assembly to see if I could get the self cancelling mechanism to work as it currently does not. All I did was loosen the s...

Got my best price from Adrian Flux. Quote on line then telephone to confirm. Agreed value, limited mileage.

Re: Anyone running 165/70 tyres with Van rims?
Well I have van rims to swap to from the standard wheel. I guess what I'm really asking is should I save some money and swap the 155s over to the van rims or should I try 165/70s? Anyone got any pics of 165/70 on van rims?

Anyone running 165/70 tyres with Van rims?
I'm trying to decide which tyres to put on my Van rims (LP917) for my Traveller. 165/70 would maintain the correct rolling radius and gearing although reading previous threads 155/80 and 165/80 are popular choices. Is anyone running 165/70 and can comment on their look and handling? Do they come clo...

Re: University subsitence costs
That's helpful thanks. According to our calculations taking into account the subsistence loan of 3564 and the full maintenance grant of 2906 (which she isn't entitled to) minus the accommodation costs of 4830 (Leeds Met) it would appear the government think a student can subsist on £35/wk for a 46 w...

University subsitence costs
Does anyone have a child currently at University? We are trying to work out how much it should cost for subsistence per week after fees and accommodation. In other words how much for food and general living expenses - daughter not son! We don't want to be mean with the cash but at the same time don'...

Re: Crankshaft starter dog - spanner
Near side chassis leg I presume?
Hmm getting it tight again could be an issue. I'll see if I can get it off first!

Re: Crankshaft starter dog - spanner
I've just invested in a large adjustable spanner to do it by your method. I hope it comes off easily enough!

Crankshaft starter dog - spanner
Can anyone tell me if a 1 5/16", 1/2" square drive deep impact socket will fit on the crankshaft pulley bolt or will it foul on the starter dog before engaging? Something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130458228519&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Failing t...

Timing chain rattle.
One of my winter projects will be to fix the rattle. I'm just putting together a shopping list of parts I will need. Standard 1098 engine, no frilly bits. I have a number of choices: 1. Replace like with like - simplex kit from Bully (and get an oil thrower from Mini Spares) 2. Upgrade to a duplex ,...

Knocking/vibration
Took the traveller out for the first long A road journey yesterday. A few minor issues - according to my satnav the speedo overreads by about 5-8mph at higher speeds which is no biggie, at least it isn't under reading. The timing chain rattle is getting annoying and I think I'm going to have to repl...

Re: Traveller rear compartment mat set
Judging by the condition of mine I think that is what the previous owners must have done with it. Fortunately I rarely need to go to the tip these days now that the council have given us a green wheely bin for garden waste.

I'm so glad you said that. I don't have any on mine and was slightly worried that I should even though the collets appear to be held in very tight by the spring and spring cup.bmcecosse wrote:And the little hairpin clips can be thrown away!

Re: Traveller rear compartment mat set
It turns out they are part of the card for the rear so the whole card comes away as one with the arm rest attached. Can I take this opportunity to recommend the mat set provided by Bull Motif. This is the first time I have fitted after market upholstery items and they have fitted first time without ...

Traveller rear compartment mat set
I'm replacing the mat set at the rear of the Traveller in the luggage area but I've come across an impasse. In order to remove the wheel arch covers I must first remove the arm rest thingy from the back seat area but I can't work out how it is fixed. It is certainly fixed solid by some means and I d...

Our Drive It Day
In the absence of anything arranged locally we set off on our own little tour with the aim of gatecrashing the Morris Register meet at Hatton and then the NEWS run at Gaydon Motor Museum. Great weather and a good run out. The Morris register folks didn't mind a bit when we pulled our car into their ...

Thanks very much for the invite but we were looking for something closer to home. I think we'll just go for a drive to mark the day.
