Re: Currently drinking.....

I'm fully aware of north America IPA's. Yes pumpkin is on tap here but disgusting. When I say real ale, I mean British ale. The American stuff tastes like drain water.

Sitting in a bar in Manhattan drinking a Brooklyn Pilsner. Its 5.1% and very easy on the pallet.

Not normally a lager drinker, but no real ale out here.

Re: Rear hub gasket

Rear Hub.JPG this is taken from my A30 manual (identical to my Series 2). Around 10 years ago, I replaced a hub on the A30 for a later one with the rubber seal. I decided then to make my own half shaft seals out of some thin cork sheet as I was fed up with it leaking after replacing numerous times ...

Re: Axle tramp

I do them in a vice as well. If the bearing seizes, then it turns in the hub. This is what happened years ago with me. Bearing lock solved the issue and is still on the car 10 years later.

Re: Axle tramp

Ok, seems like I may have a faulty hub after all. I took to half shafts out, in preparation for removing the diff, and found that the drum screws and half shaft screws were a bit loose. I also found that the hub is loose on the bearing. It's the same both sides-there is a couple of mm play in the h...

Re: oil Intercooler

Phil, the remote oil filter housing and pipe's, what are they off of? I guess you have a marina engine fitted where the oil filter is at an angle at the back of the engine and it makes changing the filter difficult.

Re: New Clutch, can't get a gear

think I did it so there was 10mm play at the pedal before you felt resistance.

also, years ago, I didn't fit the 2 clips that hold the thrust bearing to the clutch fork correctly and this made it difficult to engage 1st and reverse.

I've got alloy mini lites on my van. The old wheels were corroded and buckled. To me it was an easy option. Modern wheels are stronger, lighter and safer.

Re: Positive v negative earth?

And I, for one, have retained my wooden sash windows in my Victorian house because putting plastic in looks like s***e. Just because something is 'modern' and flash does not, necessarily, make it better. The modern world has lost a lot of charm. I could elaborate but, really, its not necessary 8) i...

driven plate is stamped with which way it fits.

I think its not adjusted correctly. if not that, have you got the clips holding the thrust bearing in correctly?

Re: painting gold seal engine

in regards to the difference on the internals, I would say Phil may know the answer as he's got a lot more experience than most. I do know that the speedo drive is different. One is plastic and one is metal. Phil again may know the difference. With your box, can you drop the gear to 3rd to overtake ...
