Re: Daylight for the 1st time in years

it is. No bodywork is required. It was rebuilt in the mid 90's and painted that pillar box red. (he likes it!). All the welding was done then. It was driven around for a bit and then laid up in the barn when someone reversed into the grill/bumper. Don't worry though, there are a few spare grills tha...

It was back in the day when £20 got you a usable gearbox.

Re: Gearbox prices

I still laugh about the gearbox I purchased from someone on here years ago for £20. He told me it was a good one that I could just fit and use. When I gave John Evan's (yes the gearbox man) all my gearboxes for him to build me a proper good one (803 box with 948 internals) he did in fact ask where i...

Re: Daylight for the 1st time in years

I believe my mate is going for full disc brakes, modern gas strut suspension and a retrim on the interior. It has a 1275 engine already in it.

Daylight for the 1st time in years

This is a friends car that hasn't seen daylight for the 1st time since 1996 I believe.

It's currently with a well known MM restorer, having some work done to get it back on the road. Its all there and complete. It will be back on the road shortly...…..

Re: Not what they used to be!

ive visited a couple of the above mentioned. I know the pease pottage yard is still there, but didn't know Chobham still existed. may have to visit. never knew of the one in Chessington, was it down chalky lane or green lane? never knew of the one in new malden, my mum still lives there. ive seen th...

Re: A little shocked

for 25K I wouldn't be buying a MM. i'd be looking higher up the food chain. Prices of parts is indeed a explosive topic. For my A30 I was after rear shock links. they go from the axle to the rear roll bar. the only company selling them is Bull Motif. They want £40 each! I'm clever (but not a genius)...

Re: Spotted today.

Boss 429 mustangs were only built in 1969 and 1970.

if that's a 1967 car, its not a real 429.

Re: SERVO FITMENT

I have a series 2 MM with discs on and no servo fitted as well as having a A30 with discs and no servo. in all honesty, both cars have superb brakes so I really don't think there is any need for a servo unless you require one due to leg strength.

Re: Redex or catalyst balls for fuel??

this is a similar conversation as buying winter tyres. you don't need winter tyres and you don't need lead in the fuel tank. I've driven without adding lead pellets or any other similar rubbish since they stopped selling 4 star fuel 20 years ago 'Ive never had any problem ever. believe what you want...

Re: Engine in bits for a rebore-anything else worth doing?

I did think so. I don't like the sound of cutting bits off the fan blade. think i'll leave as is.

thanks

Re: Engine in bits for a rebore-anything else worth doing?

I have a question regarding the fan fitted above. is this from an MG midget? if so, is there enough clearance from the water pump pulley and the surface of the rad? reason I asked, is because I wanted to fit one instead of the single blade fan, but was advised it wouldn't fit as it would hit the rad...

Re: long distance driving

this is something I would like to do! I did drive my A30 from Surrey to Dundee a few years ago. I had a couple of fuel problems but that was it. that was with a standard car (948 engine) and it ate the miles up. over 4 days, I did 1500 miles. i'd like to take the MM and the Austin down to the south ...

saw a broken down convertible on the grass verge just south of Peterborough services - London bound on the A1. was about 1pm. I couldn't stop as I was doing 70mph and was late.
