Re: CARPETS
Iv'e picked my van set up this week from them, I live about 5 miles away. Not fitted yet but seems excellent quality. I also got 2 fitted matts and 2 metres x 1.5 metres of 3mm rubber for the van back floor.

Re: Austin Van - First Produced
Thanks for wing mirror info. Hi Les, I have those on my van fro ESM described as van mirror stems. You can see past the van body but they are useless for reversing in tight spots as you can't see the rear corner I'm just sorting your idea useing tie bars. Can't find the post you did with the sizes ...

Re: Copper grease on wheel stud threads
Les I changed the tyres round on one of our Mercedes Vito's about 2 years ago as one of the steel rims was damaged I had to fit the spare rim that had been under the bus since before we bought it. The tapered holes that the nut taper fits into was a bit rusty so I torqued the wheel up intending to f...

Re: Copper grease on wheel stud threads
Each to his own. I have to account for the safety of our passengers and the general public. I can just see being called up in front of the traffic commissioner to defend a lost wheel accident. "How did you fit the wheel" "Well torque setting is 250Nm but as I greased the threads I set...

Re: Copper grease on wheel stud threads
no it won't. I was referring to wheels we remove to do repairs and tyre fitting. Transits for example are renown for wheels coming loose. A torque wrench is the only measured way of fitting wheel nuts. We buz gun em on set on low just for speed, then do them up the last turn or so to the correct tor...

Re: Copper grease on wheel stud threads
I have a newsletter from VOSA somewhere in our garage. We used to get regular bulletins from them as we operate PSV busses. The letter say to remember that wheel stud or bolt threads MUST NOT BE greased or lubricated. The only exception is if nuts/bolts are very dry rusty/squeaky just a matchstick h...

Your car or van MUST be first used (registered) before 1st September 1965 to have white front indicators and or red rear ones as long as they are combined into front position lights or rear stop lights. After sept 1st 1965 they must be amber at the from and rear or it will fail on incorrect colour! ...

Re: Tyers
If you read the Morris manual section about wheels and tyres it says you can fit tubless tyres no problem but if the tyre goes down slowly then you may have to test for air leaking around the rivet heads and if it does then peen the rivet with a hammer to seal it. A note on putting tubes into tubele...

Re: OUCH!!!!!!
It's a case of knowing where to jack the car up. Most cars nowadays have mcphearson struts with coil springs. They are tested for ball and bush wear with the suspension hanging IE car jacked under the body/chassis. But any vehicle with torsion bars that act on the lower arms or Mercs with a transver...

Re: Car not running right. Broken spark plug?
The timing seems to be set correctly now, it's not pinking. It was set correctly before but then the mechanic who did the MOT leaned out the mixture and it started knocking. If your car used before August 1979 it doesn't need an emissions test that analyzes the exhaust gasses. It should have a VISU...
