Re: NMP Plate

For each bodyshell, allocated a code by NMP, differing on each varient.

This code defines age/model, if, for example it were "Z31234" it would be a 1962 Minor.

The BODY number - the set of nos. to the right - whittles the build date to within 2mths.

Believe me, it's quite a simple system.

OK ..so how is it de-coded? I get '54' for year, or even '4' for 4-door in there (but not both at the same time, of course), but I don't get the significance of all the numbers....
Do I have your car's details?

Over 150 body codes used.

Re: NMP Plate

By chance (almost) I discovered my car has an NMP plate in the engine bay floor. It was dirty but cleaned up well enough to read the number. What does the number actually mean? It is Z15491.2 The "Z" number is the bodyshell code, gives the rough build year/months. BMF number narrows it to month(s)

Only ONE way to get numbers.... ......SHOUT, SHOUT, SHOUT again...Eeeerh.. Think it was an experimental binary code; □ ○○ ○○ □ = 948cc 4drs □ ○○○ □ = 1960 LCV □ □ = 1098LCV/AddPk Traveller? How about setting up a specialist "Research" dept. within the MMOC, long overdue, missing SO much! Mr.Ploppy e...

Re: Stolen EBAY UK

I’m not sure you’re right to say there is a blissful indifference to research, granted we’re not all compiling a data base, what would be the point of that, we’d all be logging the same details. The fact that folk have shown considerable interest in the offer to buy your book suggests there is supp...

Re: Oblongs & Circles

My query based upon seeing some CKD LCVs with 3 circles between the rectangles(thanks simmitc), although whether replacements for rotted out sill's - one deffo a converted saloon cab - I'm not sure? Do CKDs, Cowley & Abindon builds differ, or is it anything to do with a vehicles' age? Mr.Onethingsol...

Re: Oblongs & Circles

My AP Traveller has oblongs each end - both before and after I replaced the boxing panels. Never seen a minor, or an image of a minor, with anything else, apart from amateurish welded patches covering the holes. Thanks Mark..no 3 circle cut-outs between? Unique to AP assembled Traveller's? I know 2...

Oblongs & Circles

Another mystery to solve....not seen it discussed before...like to add this to the id booklet for a definitive answer. Concerns the boxing panel that forms the inner sill's, either side of the floorpan. LCVs have an oblong shaped hole front & back, those with seatbelt anchorages...Zzzz What do the r...

Re: Stolen EBAY UK

MMOC doesn't seem to have anyone within their midst into the "number crunching" side of things.

Whereas, Cub's catering for the likes of the Mini & the Triumph TR DO...daft the MMOC, one of the largest, most popular Classic Car Club do NOT!
