radiator bottom hose connection weeping
I Had a slight weep from the bottom hose connection on the radiator. Tried instant gasket without success, wrapped a piece of bicycle tube around the pipe and refitted the bottom hose. Problem solved, or so I thought. I now see that the weep is not coming from the connection itself but there is cool...

Re: quarterlight window fit
The split brass adjustment blocks are not symmetrical, this might be the problem. Have you tried turning them around, see link below which had the same problem. I know this might come a few years late, but just the same, it might help others with the same problem. Good luck https://www.morrisminorfo...

Fuel line connection at the tank
I would like to paint my fuel tank and treat it against corrosion. To remove the tank I would need to disconnect the fuel pipe at the tank. I know that there is a pickup pipe inside and I understand the male/female connection with nut and olive (…) where the fuel line attaches to the tank, but what ...

welded join in roofline saloon
We are in the process of restoring my 1966 2-door saloon and have just removed the headlining to replace it with a new one. This is what I discovered on the inside of the roof - a welded join .... Can anybody shed light on this matter. Is this a standard feature of saloons or has my car been in a se...

mystery wheels
Can anybody identify this type of wheel. I have seen them on Minors and other classics regularly.
How much would they go for on the second hand market if they do turn up?
Thanks already.

Re: Dumb question (maybe not) about speedo cable
to conclude this post I have now found out how everything should fit together. There was an oil seal present in the retainer although that was not obvious until I had the whole assembly on my workbench. I then managed to prise that out and fit a new seal. Everything is now leak free and functioning ...

interchangeability of rear seat
As the springs and foam on my porcelain green rear seat base are way beyond their best I am looking for a replacement. Now I have located a 1962-64 red duotone seat base for a reasonable price. The internals seem OK plus the springs look to be in better condition than mine. My question. Would a 1962...

Re: Dumb question (maybe not) about speedo cable
I ordered the oil seal, but I believe my retainer is missing. there seems to be nothing inside the pinion drive, no seal, no retainer I took it apart some time ago to have the gearbox reconditioned, but I seem to remember there was just the plastic drive and nothing inside but the pinion. If there i...

Re: Dumb question (maybe not) about speedo cable
Thanks phil, I will go for the ESM part (oil seal) and fit that. Am I correct in that it should be fitted in the plastic housing on the gearbox side? The pinion I believe is not worn as it functions as it should and the plastic pinion and bush have been sealed in place with a fair amount of gasket s...

Re: Dumb question (maybe not) about speedo cable
How do i stop the cable-gearbox drive connection from leaking oil It's leaking from the cable end, not between the drive and the gearbox. I heard mention an oil seal, where does it fit, inside the cable grommet? Is that part no 8G212 or 9G214 as available by ESM? thanks for your help although I noti...

Re: What is this number
The number on the car should match the number on the plate. If they don't match this could mean that the car has received a new identity at some point in its life. Either the car has received a new body (just like fitting a new engine or gearbox from another car) while the identity on the plate is k...

Thanks for the clear pic Phil, much appreciated.
Now it's time to start the hunt for a recon gearbox, alternatively I will look for a trustworthy company in the Netherlands to recondition my own box.
Any Dutch Minor owners with experience in this are invited to react . . . .

Re: Gearbox front cover RHD to LHD
Again, is there anything that will fly out into space if I remove the front cover or is everything bolted down inside the cover. I am thinking of springs or bearings held in place by the front cover? Is this also the case with the cover on the side to check the gears?

Gearbox front cover RHD to LHD
I think I am in need of a new gearbox for my 1098 because I have à rattling sound with the clutch up. I suspected the clutch to be faulty, so I changed the clutch and pressure plate, but the rattle is still there. Only the gearbox to do then. I live in the Netherlands and am looking to order a box f...

Re: clutch problem
A bit overdue I am sure, but the problem appeared to be that the release bearing was for the earlier engine
Strange how it did function properly on the other car, they were both 1098cc engines.
Changed the bearing for ther correct 1098 one and the problem was solved.

rally entry fee by cheque.
Hi everyone, I would love to come to the national rally at Charlbury in June this year. However the form states the entry fee should be paid by (enclosed) cheque. In Holland hardly anyone uses cheques anymore, so to order a cheque from my bank would cost me about € 30.00 in bank fees. excluding the ...

Re: alternator conversion plus warning light problem
Although it has been a couple of montghs I thought it only fair to tell you that everything now works as it should. The problem has been solved. It turned out the 16ACR alternator was not as perfect as I thought it would be. After I replaced the internal regulator and rectifier pack (diodes), the ig...
