Re: Cellulose Paint
Thanks philipkearney and Mostly Minors. I have ordered some paint from Ken. He charges £14 to post it which seems very reasonaable as I ordered primer and thinners as well.

Cellulose Paint
I want some Birch Grey cellulose paint to repaint for my 1957 Morris 1000. Can anyone recommend a good supplier for cellulose paint. I live in Gloucestershire so ideally someone who could match the colour rather than using paint codes. Also any idea what the paint code should be? I tried the link at...

Re: The New MOT Exemption Rules
Thanks everyone. I have since found that if you use the DVLA facility "Check if a vehicle is taxed" it also gives the MOT status. Mine I see is shown as Exempt so I was probabaly worrying over nothing.

The New MOT Exemption Rules
The guidance for the new rules are at: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/670431/vehicles-of-historical-interest-substantial-change-guidance.pdf Importantly in this it states ““If your vehicle does not have a current MOT certificate and is...

Re: New Torsion Bars??
Hi All I think the previous poster is confusing fore-aft play with rotational play (around the axis of the torsion bar). I am restoring a Traveller that came to me as a 'barn find'. When disassembling the front suspension, I noticed that on one side the front arm splined onto the torsion bar has si...

Re: New Torsion Bars??
When I originally took off the torsion bar there was no creak. However the bottom arm was seized onto the torsion bar and I had to use gas to split them. If I put grease on the splines the creak goes away for a couple of months. When the creak reoccurs I split the suspension, re-grease it and all is...

New Torsion Bars??
I have been trying to get rid of a creaking noise which is coming from the front where the bottom arm splines onto the torsion bar. I managed to get a new “old stock” bottom arm and fitted this with locktite but there is still play and it still creaks. Therefore the wear must the torsion bar splines...

Front Brake Shudder
Having fitted new 8 inch brakes to my Series 2 car I find that I am getting a brake shudder very similar to what you get when a drum not true. The car is fitted with brand new drums, shoes and brake cylinders (master & slave). I was convinced the new drums were not round so I took them to a loca...

Re: Advice please - wrong speedo over reading
Hi Mike, Very many thanks. I have today put the guts of a 1408 TPM black speedo into my early brown speedo - a bit fiddly - but it works fine. If anything it might now be under-reading but I suspect that’s my imagination! Very many thanks for the advice. Tony

Advice please - wrong speedo over reading
I am now getting to the end of my Series 2 Traveller rebuild having successfully got an MOT last week. I have installed a 1098 engine, 1098 gearbox, a 9/38 differential & 145 x 14 tyres. The affect of this is, not surprisingly, that the speedo is massively over reading. The speedo currently inst...

Many thanks for the advice Mike. I have just checked and the 9T I have chosen is fortunately 12v. Cheers, Tony

Help Please - Which Starter Motor (9 or 10 tooth)
I am fitting a 1098 engine and gearbox into my Morris Series 2 car. I have a number of starter motors some have 9 teeth and some 10 teeth on the gear that meshes with the ring gear. My ring gear has 104 teeth. Can anyone tell me please which is the correct starter to use? Thanks.

Re: Rear Seat fitting on Series 2 Traveller
Yes, I think my panels aren’t curved enough and try as I may I can’t get them to curve as much as yours. My wood is original except for the 2 bottom curved pieces around the rear wheel arch which I have replaced. The rest is untouched and is good. No sign of these blocks but they look comparatively ...

Re: Rear Seat fitting on Series 2 Traveller
Thank you MBO 145, that is very helpful. Sorry that I have been a while replying. Try as I may I can’t get the replacement panels to curve like yours. I have tried dampening them and pressing them to a curve but they still do not get to the same shape as the ones in your photo. Should I ever find so...

Re: Rear Seat fitting on Series 2 Traveller
A progress (?) report. I have tried to distort the side panels (ie by damping the card backing and pushing them in and up), this has a marginal good effect. I have removed the metal finishers from the seat back. I have also cut about ¼ inch from the wood on each side of the seat back. I can now fold...

Re: Rear Seat fitting on Series 2 Traveller
Hi, Many thanks for all the advice. Yes, I have already tried fixing the panel at the bottom but that actually makes it worse as the panel won’t then flex (ie push in). I haven’t any wooden blocks on the top of the wheel arch, do all cars have these? What do they fit to? Could you give me the dimens...

Rear Seat fitting on Series 2 Traveller
I am restoring a Series 2 Traveller and I am having difficulty in getting the rear seat back to fold down as it badly fouls the armrests. The seat is original and I have confirmed with Charles Ware’s and by looking in the “Original Morris Minor” book that it is a Series 2 seat. It has not been recov...
