Re: Historic status, MOT and Tax ?

so if it's built anytime in 2021(or the first week of 2022) it's free on the 1st April 2022, this is defined as 40 years since it was built Either I'm more tired than I realise and keep misreading your sentence or... As an aside my Minor was registered 1st Jan '64, so either it's really a '63...

If it was replaced in 2009 its the bigger bore type...

Re: Master Cylinder ID?

The 1/16" I.D. may not seem very much but it does allow for a higher pressure on the wheel cylinders. The down side is possibly a very slightly longer pedal travel. Wouldn't a bigger bore mean less pedal travel? The piston in the MC won't have to move as far to displace the same amount of flui...

I think you can now get the Pirelli Cinturato in 145R14 too (longstone tyres)

Re: Where was the original steel sourced from?

P.S. it was unlikely to have been the Austin Motor Company - given they are Morris Minors

It would either have been Morris Motors / British Motor Corporation / British Leyland dependant on the age of the car :)

Re: Carb oil

Indeed Phil - I have 3 SUs in my possession which rely solely on the weight of the piston (no spring or oil) - only 1 is fitted to a car though.

Keith Calver has some good opinions on the oil to be used in a dashpot - https://www.calverst.com/technical-info ... shpot-oil/

Some interesting comments here. Simmitic has replied to my OP, Admin has not but then he is very well known anyway so probably you will all have heard of him. Can anyone tell us about Cam, the third person listed as a moderator? According to the Board as it comes up on my screen he was last active ...

What is this club you refer to Matt. I’m presuming you don’t mind telling us ? The life membership one? Thats the Transit Van Club.... I am technical advisor and write articles that go in most of the newsletters, as well as provide tech support and even spares at rallies in the UK and events abroad...

Re: Prices

Classic car prices are very hit an miss at the moment, and I can't work out why.

I have seen several examples where car X sells for far more than I would imagine, and car Y selling for prices which are ridiculously low - where both cars are similar and it may only be 2-3 weeks apart.

Re: club subscription renewal due, do I or don't I?

I stopped paying a number of years ago.... I put a lot of effort in with the club, a lot of my time went in to the club from moderating this site to helping organise events etc - but I left. The balance and effort of what I put in, plus the cost of subs etc far outweighed what I was getting out. Tha...

Re: Caravaning with a Traveller

Cue everyone moaning about it will affect safety....personally I doubt it will, but there we are. Part of the reason for doing this is to fast-track people into HGV testing, where you would have to take this B+E test before the HGV test. They are also amalgamating the rigid body and articulated tes...

Re: Removing the bumper nuts - long extension bar?

If you can get it to move at all, thats the battle 90% won Douse it with penetrating oil, and just keep working it back and forth, every time you go back and forward you should be able to move it just a little bit more - that will help get lubricant in the threads and the rust thats blocking it from...
